WESTFIELD, Mass. – There was no stopping senior Rich Klauber (Thomaston, Conn.) on Sunday at the New England Championships as he finished 8th overall in a race that featured a season-high 261 competitors. He led the Bobcats to a 23rd place result out of 37 collegiate teams, up 10 spots from last year's 33rd place finish in the same event. Several Bobcats including Klauber achieved new personal-bests as the team continues to build for a successful late-season run.

"All of the guys competing today did pretty well," said Quinnipiac men's cross country head coach Carolyn Martin. "Rich (Klauber) did a great job leading the team today and overall the team placed much better than last year so I'm happy with our result today."

Quinnipiac's Male Athlete of the Month for September, Klauber continued his impressive season with another top-10 finish, his third of the year. The senior just keeps getting stronger each week as his finishing time of 24:35.80 bests his previous personal-best time of 25:23 established just a week ago at the Lehigh Paul Short Run. He also placed the highest of all Northeast Conference competitors at the 8k event as Colby Delbene from Central Connecticut State was the next closest coming in 13th overall.

Sophomore Spencer Mannion (Brookfield, Conn.) also posted the best time of his career on Sunday with 25:51.25, beating his previous personal-best of 26:08 from the 2011 New England Championships. His season is also progressing nicely as he finished second on the team for the second time this season.

A third Bobcat achieved a personal-best on Sunday as sophomore Thomas Dextradeur (Branford, Conn.) crossed the line in 26:11.80, beating his previous career-high of 27:49 at last year's New England Championships. Freshmen Matt Mensher (Tolland, Conn.) and Daniel Fox (Johnsburg, Ill.) and seniors Jacob Cetera (Chicago, Ill.) and Mike Levene (Redding, Conn.) rounded out the seven competitors for the Bobcats in the men's varsity event. Both Mensher and Fox bested their season-highs with 26:37.17 and 26:43.45, respectively.

The final tune up for the Bobcats this season before the NEC Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Princeton Invitational with the men's event beginning at 11:15 a.m.
