HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University hosted its annual Cross Country Summer Challenge on Saturday, August 3 from the Mount Carmel campus. The 5k race was sponsored by the Woodbridge Running Company with a male and female division. The results have been announced as the top male and female finishers received gift certificates to the Woodbridge Running Company.
The event attracted 20 total participants with 11 in competition on the female side with nine in the male division. The winner from the men's division was 21-year-old Nico Greco, who finished the 5k race in 16:18. The female side featured a familiar face to all Quinnipiac fans as 2013 graduate and former standout Becca White won her division with a time of 19:21.
Other notable competitors included Quinnipiac's Athletic Director and former Boston College standout Jack McDonald and Quinnipiac's former cross country and track head coach and the current Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at New Hampshire Shawn Green. Former Quinnipiac cross country and track runners Martha Santandreu and Kaitie Kelly also competed in the Summer Challenge.
Results have been posted in both overall standings and gender-specific divisions. Every participant received free t-shirts while all proceeds benefit the 2013 women's and men's cross country programs.
