As a Freshman in 2013:
- Appeared in five meets throughout the season
- Finished a season-best third-fastest on the team in two meets while he was the fifth-fastest in his three other appearances
- Landed just outside the Top 10 on Aug. 31 at the Stony Brook Invitational with an 11th place result, third-fastest among Quinnipiac runners, with a time of 16:17.8
- Crossed the line in 30:59.25 at the Iona Meet of Champions on Sept. 21
- Finished the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 5 in 27:30
- Tied his season-best as the third-fastest Bobcat on Oct. 12 at the New England Championships with a time of 26:23
- Finished out the season at the CCSU Mini Meet with a time of 16:20.21.

Before Quinnipiac:
- Attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Rhode Island where he lettered in cross country and track and field for four years
- Named All-State, All-Class, All-Division and All-New England throughout his distinguished high school career
- Achieved cross country personal bests of 16:04 in the 5k and 26:20 in the 8k
- Was a member of a prestigious Bishop Hendricken cross country squad that won four straight Rhode Island Cross Country State Championships (2009-12) and dominated and took home three New England Cross Country Championships (2010-11, 2013)
- Also helped guide the Bishop Hendricken track and field program to three Indoor State Championships (2010-11, 2013) and two Outdoor State Championships (2010-11)
- Member of the 2010 Bishop Hendricken squad that was named the 2010 Nike Northeast Regional Champions and ranked 10th in the nation
- His team also finished 4th at the Nike Northeast Regional in 2012 and 2013

- Born in Providence, R.I. and raised in Warwick, R.I.

- His father John was a two-time Irish Olympian and World Champion
- John Doherty ran the 5k at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics competing for Ireland…He was World Champion in 1988 and 1989 in the 5k with a personal-best of 13:07 in the event…Has one brother Stephen and two sisters Kayleigh and Olivia…His brother Stephen ran for Iona College who also compete in the MAAC…Plans to major in Psychology.
