Bart Wasiolek joined the Quinnipiac men’s cross country coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2011-12 and is now entering his fifth season with the Bobcats. Wasiolek comes to Quinnipiac with 17 years of coaching experience and a background in teaching.

Wasiolek has successfully guided the Quinnipiac men's cross country program into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) since 2013. In the 2014 season, Quinnipiac produced some of the best team results in program history. At the Paul Short Run, the Bobcats placed a program-best 3rd out of 40 teams to help start a run that included 13th place at the New England Championships (best finish since 2008), 3rd at the MAAC Championships and 18th out of 39 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional (best finish since 2009).

In addition to coaching, Wasiolek currently works as a special education teacher at Shelton High School, where he has been the girls’ cross country team’s head coach since 2005 and the assistant girls’ track coach since 2003. Besides coaching, he has worked with high school students as a special education teacher since 1998.

Wasiolek also worked as an assistant coach for Shelton High School’s boys distance team from 2003-2009. Prior to working at Shelton High School, he coached cross country and track at Pottsgrove High School and Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania.

In 2008, Wasiolek was named New Haven Register Girls’ Cross Country Coach of the Year after leading the 2008 Connecticut Class LL and State runner-up boys’ cross country team. In addition, he has coached numerous All-State runners throughout Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Wasiolek attended Kutztown University, where he graduated with a B.Ed. in special education and elementary education in 1997. As an undergraduate, he was named Kutztown University Male Athlete of the year in 1990. He was also an NCAA Division II All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 1990 and 1992, as well as the PSAC Conference Steeplechase Champion in 1990 and 1992. Wasiolek is a member of Kutztown’s athletic hall of fame.

In 2007, Wasiolek received a Master’s degree in health and physical education from Emporia State University. He currently resides in Hamden, Conn. with his wife, Anna.
