Heather Schwartzburg Named NEC Softball Rookie Of The Year
Freshman pitcher Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) of the Quinnipiac University softball team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, the league announced at its annual banquet. Schwartzburg led the conference in strikeouts (206), and was the only the only pitcher to strike out over 200 batters in the NEC.

Softball Swept By Robert Morris In Season Finale Doubleheader
Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) threw her 200th career strikeout as the Quinnipiac University softball team lost two games in a doubleheader with Robert Morris University. The losses end the Bobcats' season as they needed to sweep the doubleheader to move into postseason play. Quinnipiac lost the first game, 3-0, and the second game, 5-2, as their final record stands at 18-30 overall and 8-10 in Northeast Conference play. The Colonials' record improves to 25-19 overall, and12-6 in conference.

Softball Sweeps Siena In Doubleheader
Angela Casella (Oceanside, N.Y.) went 5-for-7 from the plate and drove in seven runs as the Quinnipiac University softball team swept Siena College in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon. The Bobcats won the first game, 5-0, and the second, 11-5. Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Jamie Iaquinto (Dix Hills, N.Y.) each earned a win from the mound for Quinnipiac as their record improves to 18-28 overall this season. The Saints' record drops to 11-30.

Softball Hosts Robert Morris In Make-Up Doubleheader Saturday
The Quinnipiac University softball team will host Robert Morris University in a make-up conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Softball Field. The first game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. with the second game starting at 4 p.m. If the Bobcats sweep the series, they will earn a spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament, starting May 8. If they split or lose the doubleheader, Robert Morris will move into the postseason. Most recently, Quinnipiac swept Siena College in a non-conference doubleheader on April 30.

Quinnipiac University softball freshman Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league office today announced. Schwartzburg was the winning pitcher in all three of the Bobcats' wins this past week, striking out 30 batters in 26 innings of work. This is the third consecutive week that Schwartzburg has been recognized by the conference.

Quinnipiac dropped the first game 6-2. Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) earned her tenth win of the year as she pitched all eight innings of the second game at the Quinnipiac Softball Field. The Bobcats' record improves to 12-24 while the Rams' record stands at 8-29.

The right-hander went 1-0 in three appearances, including her fourth shutout of the season in a complete game, 4-0 win against St. Francis (Pa.) on April 10. The award marks the second consecutive week that Schwartzburg has been awarded the weekly accolade from the NEC.

Katie Allendorfer (Glenside, Pa.) hit two homeruns and drove in five RBI in the game against Holy Cross as the Bobcats split during the second day of play at the Stony Brook Invitational. Quinnipiac defeated Holy Cross, 7-3, and then fell to the Sea Wolves, 5-1. The Bobcats finished second in the tournament behind Stony Brook while Fairfield finished in third and Holy Cross in fourth. Quinnipiac's record now stands at 5-16 on the season.

The Quinnipiac University softball team heads to New York this weekend to play in the Stony Brook Invitational hosted by Stony Brook University. The Bobcats will face off against Fairfield, Holy Cross and Stony Brook. Quinnipiac plays one game on Saturday against Fairfield at 12:30 p.m. and will play twice on Sunday, first at 10:30 a.m. against Holy Cross, and later at 2:30 p.m. against Stony Brook. The Quinnipiac University softball team made school history in their first day of play in the San Diego II Tournament. The Bobcats defeated Iowa State, 8-3, in their second game of the day, marking the program's first-ever win against a Big 12 Conference team in their Division I history. Quinnipiac lost its first game of the day to the University of Miami (OH), 3-0. The Bobcats record now stands at 2-11.

On Sunday, the Bobcats lost to Rutgers, 6-2, Portland State, 6-2.Tournament host Cal State Northridge won the tournament while Rutgers finished in second and Portland State finished in third. Softball Falls, 1-0, To Portland State In First Game Of Northridge Invitational
The Quinnipiac University softball team lost to Portland State University, 1-0, in the first game of the Cal State Northridge Worth Invitational in eight innings. Freshman Heather Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) pitched a complete game for Quinnipiac, striking out six batters in the effort. With the loss, the Bobcats record falls to 0-5 this season, while the Vikings' record improves to 10-9.

Softball Travels To California For Cal State Northridge Invitational This Weekend
The Quinnipiac University softball team starts play back up this weekend as they travel to Northridge, Calif., to participate in the Cal State Northridge Worth Invitational. Portland State, Rutgers and host Cal State Northridge are the other teams competing in the tournament. The Bobcats play their first game on Mar. 6 against Portland State at 1 p.m. On Mar. 7, Quinnipiac faces Cal State Northridge at 2 p.m. and Rutgers at 4 p.m. On Mar. 8, Quinnipiac plays Rutgers at 12 p.m. and Portland State at 2 p.m. The Bobcats most recently lost to Bucknell, 10-7, in the Championship Round of the Lancer Lead Off Classic hosted by Longwood University on Feb. 22.

Softball Finishes Fourth In Season-Opening Tournament
The Quinnipiac University softball team finished fourth of four teams in the Lancer Lead Off Classic at Lancer Field in Farmville, Va. Tournament host Longwood University and St. John's University finished in the top two spots, and Bucknell University finished in third. The Bobcats record now stands at 0-4.

Softball Opens Season This Weekend At Longwood Tournament
The Quinnipiac University softball team begins its season this weekend at the Lancer Leadoff Classic, hosted by Longwood University in Farmville, Va. There are four teams participating in this weekend's tournament: Bucknell, St. John's (NY), Longwood and Quinnipiac. The Bobcats face host Longwood on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., then take on Bucknell later in the afternoon. On Sunday, Quinnipiac will match-up against St. John's at 10:00 a.m. The Championship Round will take place Sunday afternoon, with the opponents and times determined by the outcomes of the previous games played.

Courtney Wall Named Softball Assistant Coach
Quinnipiac University director of athletics and recreation Jack McDonald and softball head coach Germaine Fairchild have announced the hiring of Courtney Wall as an assistant coach. Wall has extensive experience in the game of softball as well as strength and conditioning. Her duties will include serving as strength and conditioning coach and first base coach, while also assisting with infield defense. Her younger sister, Kelly, is a junior tri-captain for the Bobcats.

Quinnipiac University softball Head Coach Germaine Fairchild has announced captains for the upcoming 2009 season. Juniors Katie Allendorfer (Glenside, Pa.), Christine Bourdeau (Seymour, Conn.) and Kelly Wall (Westport, Conn.) will lead the Bobcats this year.

Softball Picked To Finish Seventh In NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll
HAMDEN, Conn. ? The Quinnipiac University softball team was selected to finish seventh in the 2009 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office today announced. The Bobcats finished eighth in the NEC last season after posting a 20-36 overall record, including a 5-13 record in conference play.

HAMDEN, Conn. ? The Quinnipiac University softball Head Coach Germaine Fairchild has announced the signing of Lauren Salgado (Covina, Calif.) for the 2010 season. Salgado will study Criminal Justice at Quinnipiac.

Seven Softball Players Named All-America Scholar-Athletes
Seven members of the 2007-08 Quinnipiac University softball team have been named All-American Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. To qualify for this award, the student-athletes were required to achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 for both semesters.

Softball Participates In Two Community Service Events
The Quinnipiac University softball team recently participated in two local community service events. The Bobcats held a free clinic to a local non-profit youth softball organization, CT Chaos, on Oct. 19 and painted the Alexis Hill Montessori School in New Haven.

The Quinnipiac University softball team defeated American International College in both games of a fall exhibition doubleheader on Oct. 5. The Bobcats won the first, 4-1 and the second, 1-0.
