Softball Junior Heather Schwartzburg Wins Fourth Akadema/NEC Pitcher of the Week Honor

Conn. - Quinnipiac University softball junior Heather
Schwartzburg (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was named the
Akadema/Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week, for the fourth
time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday,
April 18.
Schwartzburg picks up her fourth NEC weekly accolade of the year
after appearing in each of the four games that Quinnipiac played
last weekend. The right-handed hurler pitched two complete games,
one against Long Island and another in a 5-0 shutout versus Central
Connecticut State. Overall, she pitched a total of 20 innings and
picked up two conference wins to improve her 2011 record to 16-9.
Schwartzburg struck out 23 batters and recorded a 1.40 ERA. She
also held opponents to a 1.87 batting average.
The Mission Viejo native was recently named Quinnipiac's Female
Athlete of the Month for March. Schwartzburg previously won the NEC
Pitcher of the Week title on April 4, March 21 and on March 7 of
this year. The junior has made 28 appearances for the Bobcats this
season and currently leads Quinnipiac with a 1.46 ERA. Schwartzburg
has compiled a team and league leading 210 strikeouts on the
year.
The Bobcats return to action when they host Hartford in a
non-conference match-up on Wednesday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the
Quinnipiac Softball Field in Hamden, Conn.
