NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac softball team volunteered at the Connecticut Special Olympics Softball Competition and Tournament held at the Connecticut SportsPlex in North Branford, Conn. on Sunday, Sept. 11.
"Our players were really excited to return to the Special Olympic Softball event,” said head coach Germaine Fairchild. “The team gained so much from the experience last year, and received a priceless gift in that unique, positive feeling we all get when we give back to the community and to those who really appreciate our time and support."
The Quinnipiac student-athletes helped run the tournament and performed a variety of duties including, score keeping, umpiring, field supervision, dugout support and awards distribution,
"The day was great!” said junior Bridget Figmic. “It was so much fun to see all of the athletes smile, playing the same game my teammates and I love. It really made my day!"
"It was great to return to the event for the second time to work with the athletes,” said senior Christy Cabrera. “Everyone on our team really enjoyed the experience."
