HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team has postponed all games this weekend due to inclement weather at both Robert Morris and St. Francis (Pa.). The Bobcats were originally scheduled to begin their Northeast Conference schedule with a pair of road doubleheaders against the Colonials and the Red Flash but porous field conditions forced all four games to be postponed.
Their Saturday doubleheader against Robert Morris, scheduled to start at Noon, has been tenatively re-scheduled for Saturday, May 4 beginning at 1:00 p.m. This makeup however has not been confirmed as the Quinnipiac Department of Athletics will be looking to make the shift official in the coming days.
The Sunday doubleheader against St. Francis (Pa.) from Loretto, Pa. has also been postponed due to the recent snowfall. This series has also been tenatively re-scheduled to Sunday, May 5 beginning at Noon but both schools are waiting to make the move official.
The Bobcats are currently scheduled for a home weekend doubleheader non-conference matchup against Manhattan on Saturday, May 4 and once the schedule conflict has resolved itself the schedule changes will become official.
Quinnipiac now has been forced to postponed six games this week as the Bobcats will look to shake off the rust next week where they open up with a home-and-home series with UConn. The first game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m. from QU Softball Field and then the teams will play again on Wednesday, March 27 at 3:30 p.m. from Burrill Field in Storrs, Conn.
The new NEC opener for Quinnipiac is now scheduled for Friday, March 29 where Quinnipiac will play a home doubleheader against Monmouth starting at 1:00 p.m.
