HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac softball team invites all to their first annual Home Run Derby at the QU Softball Field on Sunday, November 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. The Bobcats will be donating 50 percent of all proceeds to the United Way and in case of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for Sunday, November 17.
Members of the Quinnipiac softball team will oversee all the day's action as admission costs are $10 for each participant. The same rules that govern the MLB Home Run Derby will apply to Quinnipiac's version as each participant is allowed 10 "outs" to power as many home runs as possible. An "out" can be either a swing-and-miss or any ball that is hit, foul or in-play, that does not leave the park. The winner at the end of the two hours will receive a prize.
There will also be a $5 dizzy bat contest as well as a $1 speed throw competition at the field on Sunday. Hot chocolate will be sold at the field and all donations are accepted up through the day of the event.
Any questions or concerns can be sent to the email listed below. Hope to see tons of Bobcats out at the field this Sunday!
