HAMDEN, Conn. – With the threat of inclement weather looming for the entire state of Connecticut, the Quinnipiac University softball team has made three schedule changes that will affect games over the next week. The Bobcats' Saturday MAAC doubleheader on the road against Manhattan has been moved from 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Quinnipiac's Sunday home opening doubleheader against Monmouth has been moved to Monday at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Finally, the Bobcats' have rescheduled a non-conference tilt against UConn to Thursday at 3:30 pm from the QU Softball Field.
In summation, the Bobcats will play two games at Manhattan on Saturday (11:00 am, 1:00 pm), two more against Monmouth at home on Monday (1:00 pm/3:00 pm), and will host the UConn Huskies on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
The Bobcats' are 3-18 overall through 21 games this season and have yet to play from QU Softball Field due to poor weather and field conditions throughout the month of March. Quinnipiac is coming off their most impressive win of the season, however, as they upset the Towson Tigers on the road, 2-1, on Sunday, March 23. Sophomore Courtney Solt (Boyertown, Pa.) is the reigning MAAC Player of the Week while junior Nikki Barba (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Abby Johnson (Chelmsford, Mass.) are tied for the team-lead in batting with a .333 average.
With rain and cold temperatures expected to hit the local area throughout the weekend, Bobcat fans should stay tuned to the Official Website of Quinnipiac Athletics, www.QuinnipiacBobcats.com, for all schedule updates, news, scores and highlights for Quinnipiac softball.
