HAMDEN, Conn. – The non-conference softball doubleheader with the University of Hartford and 1st annual StriKe Out Cancer game for the Quinnipiac University softball team has been cancelled to due impending inclement weather. The Bobcats and Hawks will not make-up the two non-conference games.
The Bobcats will wrap up their 2014 non-conference slate with a single road game on Thursday at CCSU at 3:30 pm. They will conclude their first season of MAAC competition this weekend as they welcome the Niagara Purple Eagles and Canisius Golden Griffins for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Senior Katie Alfiere (Beacon Falls, Conn.) will be honored before the start of Sunday's doubleheader in what will be her final home game.
Cancelled the games on Wednesday also means the 1st annual StriKe Out Cancer Game will have to wait until next year for the Bobcats. Quinnipiac has been raising money in support of the American Cancer Society for the past two months and have exceeded their goal of $2,000 with a total donation amount of $2,220 as of Tuesday morning. Fans can still donate by clicking the link above.
