Women's Basketball Signs Lisa Lebak To National Letter Of Intent
Quinnipiac University women's basketball head coach Tricia Fabbri announced the signing of guard Lisa Lebak (Robbinsville, N.J.) to a National Letter of Intent. Lebak will join the Bobcats for the 2009-10 season after a four-year career at The Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J.

Brianna Rooney And Erin Kerner Honored By NEC
Quinnipiac University women's basketball seniors Brianna Rooney (Guilford, Conn.) and Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa) were honored by the Northeast Conference. Rooney was tabbed as the NEC's Defensive Player of the Year, while Kerner was named to the All-NEC First Team. Rooney received the honor as the league's top defender for the second-consecutive season, while Kerner earns First-Team honors for the second-straight year as well. Kerner has been recognized by the league each of her four years with the Bobcats after being selected as a member of the Second Team her freshman and sophomore seasons as well as being honored as the Rookie of the Year in 2005-06.

Women's Basketball Falls In NEC Quarterfinals To Monmouth, 69-67
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team's second-half comeback came up just short as it fell to Monmouth, 69-67, in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals at Sacred Heart's Pitt Center. Senior Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) scored 29 points in her final game with the Bobcats, including 17 in the second half. The loss ends Quinnipiac's season with an overall record of 18-11. Monmouth moves on to face No. 1 Sacred Heart in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon.

Women's Basketball Faces Monmouth In NEC Quarterfinals On Saturday
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team enters its eighth consecutive Northeast Conference Tournament and ninth since joining the league ten seasons ago when the fourth-seeded Bobcats take on the fifth-ranked Monmouth Hawks Saturday. The game is scheduled to start no earlier than 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart's Pitt Center. Quinnipiac, Monmouth and Saint Francis (Pa.) all finished tied for third in the conference standings with 11-7 NEC records, but due to the unbalanced schedule, the Red Flash earned the No. 3 seed and a first-round game with No. 6 Robert Morris. The top seed and tournament hosts from Sacred Heart take on Mount St. Mary's in the first game on Saturday. Central Connecticut and Fairleigh Dickinson will play in the third game with the Blue Devils as the tournaments' No. 2 seed and the Knights finishing seventh in the conference standings.

Women's Basketball Beats Wagner, 77-65, In Final Regular-Season Game
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team defeated Wagner, 77-65, in the team's final regular-season game of the season Monday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) scored 24 points and Brianna Rooney (Guilford, Conn.) had a career-high 10 assists in the game. The Bobcats end the regular season with an 11-7 Northeast Conference record and an 18-10 overall record. The Seahawks conclude their season 7-22 overall and 3-15 in NEC play. Quinnipiac will be the No. 4 seed and take on No. 5 Monmouth Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NEC Tournament.

Erin Kerner Named Choice Hotels NEC Co-Player Of The Week
Quinnipiac University women's basketball senior Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office today announced. This is the third time this season and the seventh time in her career that Kerner has been honored as the conference's top player. Sharing the award with Jennifer Bender of Monmouth last week, the senior guard shares it with Mount St. Mary's Brianna Gauthier this week. Kerner averaged 23.5 points per game over the Bobcats' two wins this weekend against Central Connecticut and Wagner. She ends the regular season third in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game.

Women's Basketball Hosts Wagner In Final Regular-Season Game Monday Night
The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team plays its final regular-season game of the year when it hosts the Wagner Seahawks at the TD Banknorth Sports Center Monday night at 7 p.m. The Bobcats are tied with Monmouth and Saint Francis (Pa.) for third in the Northeast Conference standings entering the final night of action. Mandy Pennewell (West Chester, Pa.) posted her second double-double of the season and Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) scored a game-high 23 points as the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team defeated Central Connecticut State, 79-68, on Senior Day at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. Pennewell scored 16 points and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds as she helped the Bobcats improve their record to 17-10 overall and 10-7 in Northeast Conference play. The loss drops the Blue Devils' mark to 17-11 overall and 12-5 in league play. With the win, Quinnipiac sweeps the season series with CCSU and pushes its winning streak to 17 games against the Blue Devils.

Erin Kerner Named Choice Hotels NEC Co-Player Of The Week
Quinnipiac University women's basketball senior Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week the league office today announced. This is the second time this season that Kerner has been recognized as the league's top performer in a week's span. Kerner shares this week's honor with Jennifer Bender of Monmouth. Kerner earned the honor for the fifth time in her career after leading the Bobcats to wins at Long Island, 74-59, and against Fairleigh Dickinson, 74-59. This season, she is fourth in the conference in scoring (17.1 ppg). She shot .560 percent from the floor over the two-game span.

The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team opens up the final three-game homestand of the regular season against Fairleigh Dickinson. The two teams met in Hamden at the TD Banknorth Sports Center on Jan. 12, with the Bobcats pulling out a 51-49 comeback win. Jacinda Dunbar (Edison, N.J.) highlighted the game for the Bobcats, setting career highs in points (15) and rebounds (13), while also scoring the game-winning layup with eight seconds remaining. The Bobcats trailed by 11 at the half before scoring 32 second-half points en route to their fourth Northeast Conference win of the season. Quinnipiac University will celebrate the 23rd Annual National Girls & Women In Sports Day by offering free admission to local girls attending the women's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 7 at noon against Bryant University, with the opportunity to perform during the halftime show. On Saturday, Feb. 7, in recognition of breast cancer awareness the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team will host a 'Pink Zone' as part of a special program through the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the Northeast Conference. The first 250 fans to the game will receive a free pink NEC T-shirt. In addition, representatives from the American Cancer Society will be on hand for the second consecutive year to provide information about breast cancer awareness and answer any questions.

The Bobcats kick off their second slate of Northeast Conference games this weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson. In Quinnipiac's most recent game, the Bobcats fell at Cameron Indoor Stadium to No. 6 Duke, 78-50. The Bobcats fell behind early in the first half, but managed to play with the Blue Devils in the second, matching Duke's second-half scoring output, 29-29. Mandy Pennewell (West Chester, Pa.) scored a game-high 17 points against Duke, while recording a season-high three steals. The game marked the first time in almost a decade that Quinnipiac squared-off with a top-10 opponent. The Bobcats lead the all-time series with the Knights, 17-2, including having won the last 11 contests between the teams dating back to 2002.

Quinnipiac University women's basketball senior guard Erin Kerner (Erie, Pa.) was named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the Week the league office today announced. Kerner won her fourth career Player of the Week honor after scoring a season-high 35 points at Yale on Sunday, Dec. 21. This season, Kerner has averaged 18.8 points per game (2nd-NEC) in leading the Bobcats to a 2-0 NEC mark and an 8-2 overall record.

Quinnipiac University Women's Basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Shelby Sferra (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) and Robin Keke (Bowie, Md.) will join the Bobcats for the 2009-10 season. HAMDEN, Conn. ? Quinnipiac University Women's Basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri and Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald today announced the hiring of Tom Blake as assistant coach. Blake returns for his second stint at Quinnipiac after previously serving as an assistant with the men's basketball team from 1997-2000. Most recently he was the head boys' basketball coach at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Conn., for the past eight years.
