Women's Basketball "Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer" Sunday

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team will be participating in the American Cancer Society's second annual "Make Strides Against Break Cancer" walk in New Haven on Sunday, Oct. 19. Head Coach Tricia Fabbri, her coaching staff and the entire Quinnipiac women's basketball team will take part in the 5K walk that begins at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Point Park.

"Coach Fabbri and her team were very eager to be a part of this event," said Mary Kate Carofano, a Community Development Executive with the American Cancer Society. "They are all leaders in the community and we are very excited for them to join us to raise awareness for the cause."

This is the second consecutive season that the women's basketball program has been involved with the American Cancer Society. Last season the team hosted "Think Pink" day at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. The game against Wagner on Feb. 9 featured both teams sporting pink shoelaces, while the coaching staff wore black and pink.

"The coaches and the players are very happy to be involved with the American Cancer Society and the ‘Make Strides Against Breast Cancer' walk on Sunday," Head Coach Tricia Fabbri said. "We started this last season and we look forward to continuing our participation in these events in the future."

The Bobcats begin the 2008-09 season on Nov. 14, when they travel to take on Stony Brook University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
