Kaminski and McQuain Receive All-Northeast Conference Honors
HAMDEN,
Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's basketball senior Courtney
Kaminski (Dudley, Mass.) and freshman forward Brittany
McQuain (Independence, Mo.) received All-Northeast Conference
honors, as announced by the league office on March 2. Kaminski was
selected to the All-NEC First Team, while McQuain was named to the
All-Rookie Team.
Kaminski led the Bobcats this season, averaging a team-high 12.6
points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She shot 39.3 percent (110-280)
from the floor, 39.3 percent (11-28) from three-point range, and
73.7 percent (84-114) from the free-throw line. The senior center
also compiled five double-doubles, a team-high 34 blocks, 21
steals, and 23 assists on the year. Kaminski was named to the
Preseason All-Northeast Conference team earlier in the year and was
selected as the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference
Player of the Week on Jan. 18.
"Courtney is a player that every coach needs to game plan for, as
she has such offensive versatility from inside the lane to facing
the 3point line," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Tricia
Fabbri. "She is also having her best year rebounding and
blocking shots. As a 5th year senior, Courtney's experience has
helped us improve as a team from day one. This is an accolade well
deserved."
With 7.2 boards per game, McQuain led Quinnipiac as its top
rebounder this year. She also averaged 9.2 points per game and put
up 40 assists, 22 blocks, and 20 steals. The freshman forward
recorded a team-high seven double-doubles this season and was
chosen as the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference
Rookie of the Week, twice during the 2010-11 season.
"McQuain is a force to be reckoned with," said Fabbri. "She has
been an impact player for us since the first day of practice. Brit
is so comfortable with her role on both ends of the court and she
just keeps getting better each game, as evidenced by ending the
last four regular-season games with a double-double."
The seventh-seeded Bobcats will travel to play the No. 2 Monmouth
Hawks in a NEC Tournament quarterfinal contest on Saturday, March 5
at the Multipurpose Athletic Center in West Long Branch, N.J.
