HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women’s indoor track team was chosen to finish ninth in the Northeast Conference pre-championship coaches’ poll as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bobcats are predicted to finish ninth at the 2012 conference championships after placing ninth at last year’s final meet. Quinnipiac returns Becca White (Natick, Mass.), Alexandra Seitz (Annandale, N.J.) and Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.), who each received All-NEC Second Team honors for their second-place finish in the distance medley relay at the 2011 indoor championships.

With nine first-place votes, Long Island, the 2011 and 2010 NEC Champion, was selected to finish first by NEC coaches, while Monmouth was picked second with two first-place nods and Sacred Heart was selected third with one first-place vote. Saint Francis (Pa.) placed fourth, followed by Mount St. Mary’s and Robert Morris in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.

Wagner was chosen seventh, while Central Connecticut and Quinnipiac received eighth and ninth selections in the standings. Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis (N.Y.) and Bryant rounded out the poll in the last three slots.

The Bobcats return to action when they participate in the Yale Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 14, after already competing at the Yale Lid Lifter and Fordham Christmas Classic, earlier this season. White has already won NEC Track Athlete of the Week this season after winning the mile run in 5:05.08 at Fordham’s meet on Dec. 9.
