QU Women's Basketball In Italy Photo Homepage
The Quinnipiac women's basketball team's last day in Florence marked the midway point of their trip abroad.The team spent the Italian Assumption Holiday visiting many of the city's treasures, also adding a sightseeing tour of the city of Pisa and the famous Leaning Tower. The Bobcats explored the town visiting the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, or Florence Cathedral and the fourth largest church in Europe which is lavishly decorated in red, white, and green marble. Making their way around the church, the Bobcats came upon the Accademia Gallery which is home to Michaelangleo's most famous masterpiece, the sculpture of David. The team was able to learn, from a local tour guide, the artistry and techniques of the carvings and silhouettes during the time period.
tower bent. As the team climbed, each player felt exactly where they were in the structure. It also allowed for a great view of the surrounding area. Atop the structure, the team was able to have 360 degree views and see the mountains and Pisa Soccer Stadium, as well as posing for photographs.
