Intra-State Showdown
Sitting atop the Northeast Conference standings, the Bobcats will host the Pioneers of Sacred Heart on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the TD Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. in Hamden, Conn. Sacred Heart enters this match-up with a 9-5 record on the season with its most recent win coming against LIU Brooklyn on Monday evening.  The Bobcats are 11- 2 thus far, off and running to their best start since the 2007-08 campaign.

Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 9-5 and 1-1 in NEC competition. Most recently, the Pioneers defeated the LIU Blackbirds, 61-47, on their home court. Sophomore Gabrielle Washington leads the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per outing to go along with 4.2 rebounds per game.  Also in double digits for Sacred Heart are seniors, Morgan Merriman and Kiley Evans, each bringing in 13.1 and 11.2 points per game, respectively. The Pioneers' front court is led by junior Enjoli Bland with 6.0 rebounds per game. In their most recent outing, the Pioneers had two players to finish in double-figures, led by senior, Merriman finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the second double-double of her career. Merriman went 8-of-15 from the floor to shoot 61.5 percent.  Washington also added 12 points for the Pioneers.  Junior point guard, Ericka Norman dished out 12 assists with only one turnover, including four steals on the night. 

All-Time Against The Pioneers
Saturday afternoon will mark the 59th meeting between Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart with the Pioneers leading the all-time series, 34-25. In their most recent meeting, the Bobcats defeated the Pioneers, 71-34, on Jan. 23, 2012 in Fairfield, Conn. Quinnipiac is 5-6 at home against Sacred Heart.

Last Time Out
On Monday night against the Terriers, Quinnipiac added another win with a 73-52 victory behind a terrific offensive performance.  Sophomore Jasmine Martin finished with a game-high 18 points after catching fire midway through the contest en route to a 6-of-11 night from the floor, which also featured 4-of-7 from behind the arc. Felicia Barron and Samantha Guastella joined Martin in double-figures with 13 and 11, respectively, with Barron adding four assists and three steals and Guastella chipping in with eight rebounds. Camryn Warner and Brittany McQuain aided the front court, combining for 15 points and 16 rebounds The Bobcats did most of their damage with a monstrous run midway through the game. Ahead by four points with 3:40 remaining in the first half, Quinnipiac boasted a 26-2 run which carried six minutes into the second frame. Martin netted 11 straight at one point as Quinnipiac hit the first five field goals of the second half, including three straight three-pointers by Martin. The Bobcats' defense also chipped in by holding the Terriers to 15 straight missed field goals, with their two points coming from the free-throw line.

RPI Rankings
The Bobcats are ranked 71th in the latest RPI poll, released on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. The weekly rankings are a based on wins and losses compared to their strength of schedule.

Mid-Major Top 25
The Quinnipiac women's basketball team was ranked 15th in the latest College Insider Top-25 Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Their latest ranking is their best since joining NCAA Division I and their 11-2 record is their best start since the 2007-08 campaign.

Among The Nation's Best
Quinnipiac is currently ranked 15th in the country with a turnover margin of plus-6.83 a game. The Bobcats have 207 turnovers compared to 293 from their opponents. The Bobcats also rank 35th in the nation in steals per game at 11.9 per game as well as 31sr in the nation from long range shooting 35.1 percent.

Stealing the Show
Senior Felicia Barron currently ranks sixth in the nation in steals per game (4.09). So far this year the guard has compiled 50 steals this season. Most recently, she collected a game-high of eight steals in the games against Hartford (12/16).  Last year the Springfield, Mass. native ended the season leading the country with 133 steals.  

Dishing Out
Sophomore point guard Gillian Abshire currently ranks 34th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.12).  For the season, 'Boo' has 61 assists to only 29 turnovers. In the game against Yale (11/28), Abshire collected eight assists and only one turnover in her best performance of her sophomore campaign.
