Bobcats Face The Bulldogs
Sitting atop the Northeast Conference standings, the Bobcats continue their 2012-13 season on the road against the Bryant Bulldogs on Monday evening in Smithfield, R.I. The teams will tip-off at 7 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center. Bryant enters the game with an overall mark of 4-9 and an 0-3 record in the conference. The Bobcats are 12- 2 thus far, off and running to their best start since the 2007-08 campaign.

The Bulldogs enter Monday's game with an overall record of 4-9 and 0-3 in NEC competition. Most recently, the Bulldogs fell to Central Connecticut, 59-50, on the road. Junior Courtney Schissler leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per outing to go along with 6.5 rebounds per game. Also in double figures for Bryant is junior Naana Ankoma-Mensa, who collects 12.4 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, to lead the Bulldogs' front court. In their most recent outing, Bryant's Junior Jenniqua Bailey led the Bulldogs with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists, while classmate Courtney Schissler added nine points and four boards of her own. Kaitlyn Hinck added a solid seven points and a career-high eight boards in her first start of the season, while freshman Breanna Rucker added three points and eight rebounds off the bench.
All-Time Against The Bulldogs
Saturday marks the 37th meeting between Quinnipiac and Bryant, with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series, 19-17. However, the Bobcats hold a 5-2 record against Bryant in the Division-1 series dating back to the 2008-09 season. The Bobcats have won the last four meetings. The last time these two programs met was on Jan. 21 at the Chase Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I. The Bobcats downed the Bulldogs, 84-47.
Last Time Out
Led by power forward Brittany McQuain the Quinnipiac University women's basketball team coupled strong defense with a potent offense en route to a 74-45 win over defending NEC Champion Sacred Heart at the TD Bank Sports Center last Saturday. McQuain registered her third double-double of the season as the Bobcats improved to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.McQuain finished with 21 points, going 9-of-16 from the floor, and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. McQuain was joined in double-figures by Jasmine Martin and Felicia Barron as the duo once again carried the Bobcats backcourt. Martin finished with 14 points and four rebounds, while Barron added 13 points and snatched two steals. Camryn Warner earned her first start of the campaign and garnered a season-high nine points to go along with four rebounds. Gillian Abshire had seven points and game-high six assists. Quinnipiac pulled away in the first half with a 19-2 run beginning with an Abshire free-throw at the 10:02 mark. The Bobcats held SHU scoreless for a five minute span and opened their largest lead of the half, 35-17, after a Barron layup with 2:03 seconds remaining. McQuain was tremendous in the opening stanza with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Bobcats are ranked 65th in the latest RPI poll, released on Friday, January 11, 2013. The weekly rankings are a based on wins and losses compared to their strength of schedule.
What's Ahead for Quinnipiac in January
The following week ignites a vital stretch for the Bobcats, as the team plays five of their next seven games away from home. Quinnipiac travels to Saint Francis (Pa.) (Jan. 19) and Robert Morris (Jan. 21), returns home for FDU (Jan. 26) and intrastate rival CCSU (Jan. 28), and then hits the road for Wagner (Feb. 2), Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 4) and CCSU (Feb. 9). The Bobcats combined to go a perfect 5-0 against those teams last season.
