Women’s Basketball Ranked Eighth in College Insider Mid- Major Poll

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team was ranked eighth in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 by coaches on the committee.  The Bobcats are 27-2 overall and 18-0 in the NEC and currently contain the nation's fourth longest winning streak - which was extended to 19 games after their win on Monday against St. Francis Brooklyn.

The College Insider Mid-Major poll featured Delaware in the top slot, taking 28 first place votes. Green Bay claimed second, the Bulldogs of Gonzaga garnered third, while Toledo and Princeton rounded out the top five. Other noteworthy teams include No. 22 James Madison, who the Bobcats defeated in their season-opener, and mentions of Hartford, who defeated the Bobcats on Dec. 16th.

The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, March 10, as they open NEC Tournament play against Bryant University.  Quinnipiac, who clinched the NEC regular season title, will play host throughout the tournament at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.  Tip-off against the Bulldogs will take place at 2:00 p.m.
