Let the Madness Begin
In search of its first Northeast Conference Championship in program history, the top-seeded Quinnipiac University women's basketball team (28-2, 18-0 NEC) will continue its journey on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 with the semifinals of the tournament. The Bobcats will take on the sixth-seeded Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers (15-15, 10-8 NEC) at the TD Bank Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

NEC Tournament
The 27th annual NEC Women's Basketball Championship continues with the semifinals on Wednesday, March 13. For the sixth year in a row, the NEC Women's Basketball Championship Game will reach a live national television audience via ESPNU. The game, which will decide the recipient of the NEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, will tip off on Sunday, March 17 at 5:00 pm EST.

Scouting the Mountaineers
The Mount enters Wednesday's match with an overall record of 15-15 and 8-9 in NEC competition. The Mountaineers are 4-1 over their last five game games. Leading Mount St. Mary's in scoring is junior guard Sydney Henderson who averages 13.5 points per outing and 6.0 rebounds a game.  Behind Henderson, sophomore guard Jacqueline Brewer follows closely with 9.6 points per game. Sixth-seeded Mount St. Mary's upset third-seeded Monmouth, 59-57, in overtime on Sunday, March 10, in West Long Branch, N.J. to clinch a spot in the Northeast Conference Semifinals. The Mountaineers were down by five points in overtime against Monmouth before scoring 10 of the final 13 points of the game to pull off the upset. Ashley Christie scored with eight seconds left in overtime in Sunday's game to advance the Mountaineers. Second Team All-NEC guard Sydney Henderson led the Mount with a game-high 17 points against Monmouth. 

All-Time Against Mount
Quinnipiac currently leads the all-time series with Mount St. Mary's, 19-7. In their last meeting, the Bobcats defeated the Mountaineers on the road, 78-55, in Emmitsburg, Md. on February 4, 2013, Quinnipiac is 5-0 in their last five meetings against the Mount and 9-5 at the TD Bank.

Last Time Out
The Bobcats defeated the eighth-seeded Bryant University Bulldogs, 79-55, on Sunday in the NEC Quarterfinals at the TD Bank Sports Center. With the win, Quinnipiac improves to 28-2 overall and has now matched the most wins in a single season in program history. Quinnipiac, now winners 20 straight games which is tied for the fifth longest in the nation, was led by four players in double-figures. Felicia Barron finished with a team-high 13 points, three assists and two steals; Samantha Guastella matched Barron with 13 points and three rebounds; Brittany McQuain chipped in with 11 points and a season-high 16 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season; and Jasmine Martin added 10 points and four rebounds. Gillian Abshire turned in a stellar all-around effort with four points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-high eight steals.

Can't Stop Won't Stop
With the win over the Terriers on Monday (3/4), Quinnipiac improved to 27-2 overall which earns them the NEC record for most wins in a single season.  The previous record for most wins in a season was set in 2006, when Sacred Heart posted a 26-win campaign. The Bobcats already set the most wins in QU Division I history when they reached 26 wins on Saturday – and now remain just one win shy of matching the school record of 28 – which was set in the 1983-84 season.

NEC Regular Season Champions
With the win over defending Northeast Conference champion Sacred Heart on Saturday, February 23, the Bobcats were named the NEC Regular Season Champions for the 2012-13 season.  This marks the second time in program history with Quinnipiac capturing the title. With two more wins to close out the regular season, Quinnipiac will be just the fourth team to post an 18-0 record in conference play.

New England's Finest
The Bobcats (28-2) serve as the top women's basketball team in New England with only two losses on the season.  Quinnipiac was tied with the No.3 Connecticut Huskies but soon received the crown after UConn's loss to No. 2 Notre Dame on March 4. In addition, Quinnipiac is currently riding a 20-game win streak good enough for the sixth longest in the 

Among The Nation's Best
Quinnipiac is currently ranked second in the country with a turnover margin of plus- 8.57 a game, just behind Kentucky. The Bobcats have 436 turnovers compared to 693 from their opponents. The Bobcats also rank ninth in the nation in steals per game at 12.4 per game and seventh in assists per game at 17.2.  The team also cracked top-10, ranking fifth in win and loss percentage (93.3).

20-20 Vision
With their win against CCSU (2/13), the Bobcats claimed 20 wins in a season for the seventh time in program history. It's the second consecutive 20-win season, fourth time under the direction of head coach Tricia Fabbri and fourth time in the Division I era. 

Double Digits Defeats
Along with the Bobcats best start in program history, the team has defeated their opponent by double figures 19 times this season– accounting for a plus-13.0 scoring margin, which is good enough for 27th in the nation.  Of those 20 games, Quinnipiac has defeated nine opponents by a winning margin of at least 20 points. Double-digit winning margins include Rhode Island (16 points), Yale (27 points), Rider (15 points), Holy Cross (12 points), Northeastern (11 points), St. Francis Brooklyn (21 points), Sacred Heart (29 points), Bryant (23 points), Saint Francis University. (16 points), Fairleigh Dickinson (27 points), Wagner (18 points), Mount St. Mary's (23 points), Central Conn. (10 points), Saint Francis University (11 points), Robert Morris (14 points), Monmouth (27 points), Bryant (13 points), LIU Brooklyn (21 points), St. Francis Brooklyn (19 points) and Bryant (24 points) in the NEC Quarterfinals.
