HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team finished their storybook season ranked seventh overall in the final College Insider Mid-Major Poll, announced back on Tuesday, April 11, 2013. The Bobcats were included in the census for 15 straight weeks over their 2012-13 season. Quinnipiac finished its season 30-3 overall, including being crowned the NEC tournament and regular season champions for the first time in program history.

The College Insider Mid-Major final poll featured Delaware in the top slot, taking 31 first place votes. Green Bay claimed second, the Bulldogs of Gonzaga garnered third, while Princeton and Toledo rounded out the top five. Other noteworthy teams include No. 23 James Madison, who the Bobcats defeated in their season-opener and future MAAC foe, Marist whom snagged the eighth position behind Quinnipiac as they concluded their season, 26-7.

After going a perfect 18-0 in the NEC regular season, Quinnipiac garnered the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, making their 13th consecutive NEC Tournament appearance in March. The Bobcats defeated Bryant, Mount St. Mary's and then Saint Francis University in the championship game and earned their first NCAA Tournament bid since joining the NCAA's highest division.

Head Coach Tricia Fabbri was named as the 2013 NEC Coach of the Year by the Northeast Conference. Senior guard Felicia Barron received her second consecutive NEC Defensive Player of the Year award and a trip to the NEC First Team; Brittany McQuain was named to the NEC Second Team; and Jasmine Martin was nominated to the NEC Third Team.

On selection Monday, Quinnipiac garnered the 13th seed and drew the No. 4 seed Maryland in the NCAA Tournament's Bridgeport Region. Quinnipiac went toe-to-toe with the Atlantic Coast Conference power, but ultimately fell to ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas and the Terrapins.
