Women’s Basketball Reveals 2013-14 MAAC Schedule

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the league schedule for the 2013-14 women's basketball season. Quinnipiac University will open its inaugural campaign in the MAAC on Friday, Dec. 6 against the reigning conference champions, Marist.

The Bobcats and the Red Foxes will square off on Lender Court at the TD Bank Sports Center. Marist won its eighth straight MAAC championship last year, and like the Bobcats, made a trip to College Park, Md. for the NCAA Tournament. Marist was knocked out in the opening round with a loss to Michigan State. Quinnipiac's next conference game takes place in Buffalo with a trip to Canisius on Dec. 21.

Just three days before the New Year, Quinnipiac will host Niagara (Dec. 29) at the Bank, followed by a Jan. 3 pairing with Rider. The Bobcats then hit the road for a short trip to Fairfield on Jan. 5, with all the action taking place at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn.

The Bobcats remain on the road for a trip to Iona on Jan. 10, before returning home to host Manhattan on Jan. 12. Iona was selected to finish just ahead of Quinnipiac in the 2013-14 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, while Manhattan claimed 10th in the census after an eight-win season last year.

Quinnipiac then visits Saint Peter's on Jan. 16, before welcoming Siena to the Bank on Jan. 18. On Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Bobcats travel to New Jersey to face Rider, and will close out the month at home against Fairfield (Jan. 26).

The Bobcats open the month of February with their second trip to upstate New York to take on Niagara in Lewiston (Feb. 1). After a trip to Monmouth on Feb. 7, Quinnipiac returns home for its second meeting with Canisius on Feb. 9 at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Griffs finished seventh in last year's standings and collected 12 wins on the campaign.

Quinnipiac's home stretch consists of three games on the road, Marist (Feb. 14), Siena (Feb. 20) and Manhattan (March 1); and three games at home, Monmouth (Feb. 16), Saint Peter's (Feb. 22) and Iona (Feb. 27).

The 2014 MAAC Championships will be held Thursday, March 6 through Monday, March 10 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
