HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's basketball team clicked on all cylinders on Sunday afternoon and cruised to an 83-50 victory over Monmouth University at the TD Bank Sports Center. With the win, Quinnipiac improved to 16-10 overall and 11-5 in MAAC competition. Brittany McQuain (Independence, Mo.) led all scorers with 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win.
Jasmine Martin (Sicklerville, N.J.) added 11 points, three rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Nikoline Ostergaard (Vedbaek, Denmark) chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.
13 players scored for the Bobcats in the game including a career-high eight points from Jaci Oskam (Glenmont, N.Y). Oskam connected on both of her three point attempts in the second half.
Quinnipiac opened the game on a 17-3 run over the first 11 minutes of the game. The Bobcats held the Hawks scoreless until the 12:40 mark of the first half. Quinnipiac held Monmouth without a field goal until the 10:49 mark of the first half.
Monmouth used a 14-4 run to cut the game to four with 5:41 left in the first half, but that would be the closest the Hawks would get for the rest of the half.
The Bobcats closed the half on a 13-2 run. Quinnipiac held Monmouth to 21.9 percent in the first half and built a 30-19 halftime lead.
Quinnipiac improved on their 37.0 percent shooting in the first half by shooting 48.6 percent in the second half. The Bobcats connected on nine three pointers and closed the game on a 40-25 run.
Quinnipiac moves to 17-15 against Monmouth in the all-time series. The Bobcats improve to 9-3 at the TD Bank Sports Center this season.
