Mountain MacGillivray will begin his seventh season on Tricia Fabbri’s staff as the women's basketball assistant coach. MacGillivray came to Quinnipiac after a two-year stint at the University of New Hampshire.

His role with the Bobcats has evolved through the years and one of his greatest responsibilites is within the recruiting of potential student-athletes. MacGillivray's extensive background within the sport has brought a wealth of new ideas into the Bobcats' team and individual practices as he primarily works with the frontcourt players. He also tackles scouting of the Bobcats' opposition while the team is in-season.

MacGillivray brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Bobcats, having served as an assistant coach at New Hampshire following a season at the University of Vermont during in 1999-2000. That year, he helped guide the Catamounts to an NCAA Tournament berth after winning the America East Regular-Season and Tournament Championships.

Most recently, MacGillivray helped structure the UNH program after a new coaching staff was implemented prior to the start of the 2007-08 season. He was not only responsible for overseeing all recruiting activities, but he also helped develop the team playbook and guard play, while also scouting several opponents.

Prior to UNH, MacGillivray also coached at the AAU level, guiding the Delaware Valley Comets to a Mid-Atlantic 15U Championship in 2007. That year, MacGillivray's Comets finished fourth in the nation in their age bracket. He also coached that team to a third-place finish at the USA Invitational National Tournament.

MacGillivray served as the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach for the Philadelphia Lady Running Rebels from 1998 through 2002. He led the team to a top-three finish in the nation in three consecutive seasons. In 1999, the Rebels finished the season as National Runner-Up at AAU 16U National Championships.

From 1995 through 1999, MacGillivray was an assistant or associate head coach for the girls’ basketball team at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor, Penn. During that time, 12 players under his guidance went on to play at the collegiate level as the team was regularly ranked as one of the top 25 teams in the country, according to the USA Today and Full Court Press. With MacGillivray patrolling the sidelines, Archbishop Carroll won the prestigious Philadelphia Catholic League Title in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2007.

MacGillivray also coached the Main Line Boy's AAU team while completing his undergraduate work at Temple (Pa.) University. The team won the 1994 AAU Mid-Atlantic Championship while producing four future college coaches.

MacGillivray currently resides in Cheshire with his wife Grace and six children Chiara, Mary, Brigid, Sean, Catherine and Joseph.
