Women's Golf Finishes 7th On Day One At Monmouth Invitational
LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Quinnipiac women's golf team finished in 7th place on the first day of the Monmouth Invitational. Quinnipiac's lowest individual score of the season came from junior Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) who shot a 98 (+26). Hofstra and Long Island tied for first, with each team shooting combined team scores of 336 (+48). Monmouth finished second with a 339 (+51), while Wagner 347 (+59), Central Connecticut 371 (+83), St. Francis 387 (+99) and Quinnipiac 433 (+145) finished in that order.
Hofstra's Christine Klatman shot the best round of the day with a 78 (+6). Overall, Hofstra and Long Island held six of the top 10 spots in the field.
Following Nagel's score of 98, which had her in a tie for 27th, was freshman Jennifer Forlenza's (Wayne, N.J.) 102 (+30), senior Brianne Tansey's (Nashua, N.H.) 104 (+32), junior Stacey Kmill's (Thunder Bay, Ontario) 129 (+57), and freshman Stephanie Alwardt's (Plymouth, Mass.) 143 (+71).
Quinnipiac returns to the course tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 3, for the second round of the Monmouth Invitational.
