The Quinnipiac University women's golf team will compete in the first Northeast Conference Championship in program history when the Bobcats head to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the three-day tournament at LPGA International. The Bobcats hit the links on Thursday, April 21 at 9 a.m. for the first round of competition, with second and third round play on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.
Amanda Nagel (Greenwood, Minn.) has pace the Bobcats this season, posting a team-best 18-hole round in four of Quinnipiac seven tournaments this year. Nagel led the BObcats on the first day of the Monmouth Hawk Invitational on April 3 with a 98, while improving on that score the following week at Hofstra with a 97. At the Brown Invitational, Nagel shed another stroke off her personal best on the first day (97) before shooting a season-, team-best 91 in the second round.
Senior Brianna Tansey (Nashua, N.H.) has been consistent for Quinnipiac all season. Tansey led all Bobcat golfers with a 100 at the first event in Quinnipiac women's golf history, the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on March 28. She then turned in a 200 (104-96) at the Monmouth Hawk Invitational; a 106 at the Hofstra Invitational and a 192 at the Brown Invitational before bouncing back with a team-leading 140 (94-46) at Columbia University's Roar-EE Invitational.
Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) has also been solid for the Bobcats this season. Forlenza, a freshman, bounced from a 118 at her first career tournament, the Quinnipiac Bobcat Invitational on March 28, with a team-leading showing at the Monmouth Hawk Invitational. Her two-day 198 (102-96) was a team-best for that tournament.
Team scores will be compiled by adding the team's four lowest scores from each day. The top-10 finishers will be designated All-Tournament performers.
