Women's Golf Tabbed 11th In NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women’s golf team was selected to finish 11th in the 2012 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced by the league on Friday morning. Sacred Heart was chosen by league coaches as this year’s favorite, as they garnered eight first-place votes.
Four-time defending champion Fairleigh Dickinson was tabbed second in the poll with three first-place nods, while Saint Francis (Pa.) finished third, also receiving one top vote. LIU Brooklyn was slotted fourth, followed by Robert Morris and Wagner in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Monmouth landed in seventh, while Central Connecticut State and Mount St. Mary’s were tied at eighth. St. Francis (N.Y.) and Quinnipiac rounded out the field of 11.
After the Bobcats finished 11th out of 11 teams at the 2011 NEC Championships, the Quinnipiac women’s golf team looks to move up the standings in only its second year as a program under the direction of head coach John O’Connor.
The Bobcats open the 2012 spring season when they compete at the C & F Bank Invitational on March 18-20 at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
