O'Connor earned NEC Co-Coach of the Year honors after guiding a Quinnipiac team that was picked to finish last in last year's preseason coach's poll. O'Connor's Bobcats upset two rival NEC schools and placed in the top 10 in the league championship for the first time in program history.
Quinnipiac returns six student-athletes from the 2011-12 season while also welcoming four promising freshman to this year's squad. The Bobcats are led by senior Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba), who in 2011-12 averaged a team-best 84.73 average per round. Ketcheson also broke the single-round, two-day and three-day tournament program records while placing as the team's top finisher at the ECAC Division I Women's Golf Championship as well as the Northeast Conference Championship.
Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.) returns for her second season after a solid freshman campaign. Russell tallied the second-best per round average (91.24) on the Bobcats' roster. Russell also led Quinnipiac at the Monmouth Hawk Invitational and was amongst the team leaders at the NEC Championship.
Jennifer Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) enters her third season as the only player on the Bobcats' roster from the program's inaugural 2010-11 season. Forlenza has been a solid contributor for the Bobcats in her two seasons for coach O'Connor.
The Bobcats' freshmen, Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.), Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.), Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, N.Y.) and Alexa Gentile (Avon, Conn.), will also be looked upon for immediate contributions. Whaley is a two-time Connecticut State Individual Champion and the reigning Connecticut Player of the Year who lead Farmington High School to a pair of State Championships. Unger was named the MET PGA Player of the Year after winning the New York City and Metropolitan Junior Golf Match championships. Gentile was undefeated as a senior in match play on her way to an All-Conference and All-State selection while Lambrou won the 2012 CHSAA Girl's Golf Championship after reaching the finals in her previous three seasons.
