Women's Golf Sits In 8th Place After First Day Of ECAC Division I Championship
EGG HARBOR, N.J. – Quinnipiac senior Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) and freshman Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) both shot an opening-round 79 for a tie of 13th place at the ECAC Division I Championship at Twisted Dune Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. The Bobcats currently sit in 8th place after the first round of the two-day tournament.
"The course is the toughest course that these golfers will see all year," head coach John O'Connor said. "I'm not real happy with their results but extremely happy with their efforts. I look to move up in the standings tomorrow and I'm hopeful for lower rounds from all five golfers."
Of the 54 individual golfers, Quinnipiac placed three in the top 28 as Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) carded an 83 for a tie of 28th. The ECAC Championship is comprised of 11 teams competing, led by Sacred Heart White (311), and followed by Penn (316), Hartford (319), Darmouth (320) and Boston University (321) to round-out the top five. Siena (324) and Fairleigh Dickinson (326) slid in front of Quinnipiac (330). Northeast Conference foe Mount St. Mary's (348) fell into the ninth spot while Albany (348) and Navy (385) filled in the remaining two slots in the field.
Sophomore Angela Muscatelli (North Providence, R.I.) and freshman Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, N.Y.) finished tied for 41st with an 89.
