Krissy Unger's 77 Leads Women's Golf At Rutger's Invitational; Bobcats 13th Out of 21

Rutgers Invitational First Round Results

Quinnipiac women's golf freshman Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) was tied for 12th after shooting a 77 on the first day of the Rutger's Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. to lead the Bobcats on the first day of competition. Quinnipiac currently sits in 13th place out of 21 teams. Quinnipiac's combined 324 is also the program's all-time best score.

Unger shot a 39 on the front nine before following with a 38 on the back nine to finish at +5 for the afternoon. Unger's 77 is the second lowest one-round score in program history, trailing classmate Jenn Whaley's (Farmington, Conn.) 76 at the Dartmouth women's invitational.

The Bobcats sit in 13th out of 21 teams, ahead of Fairfield, Wagner, Hofstra, Mount St. Mary's, Hartford, Sacred Heart, Albany and St. Francis (N.Y.). Seton Hall led the field, followed by Rutgers, St. John's, Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Dartmouth, Boston University, USC-Upstate, Lehigh, Central Connecticut, Delaware and LIU-Brooklyn.

Whaley finished tied for 33rd with a 79 while senior Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) tallied an 82 for a tie of 57th. Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.) shot an 86 for a tie of 84th place while sophomore Angelica Muscatelli shot a 102. 

Quinnipiac resumes play on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. at the Rutger's Golf Course in Piscataway, N.J.
