Women's Golf Finishes 17th At Rutgers Invitational

The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished 17th out of 21 teams at the Rutgers Invitational. The Bobcats shot a 344 on the second day of the tournament, to combine with their first-day total of 324, for a 668 for the weekend.

"I'm a little disappointed in our performance today," head coach John O'Connor said. "Yesterday, we took 10 steps forward for our program. It was great to be in the middle of the pack, but today we took three steps back. But we're going to move past it - we get back to work on Monday. I'm encouraged by the potential of this team and we're going to keep getting better."

Freshman Krissy Unger (New York, N.Y.) finished tied for 50th out of 104 golfers with a 163 for the weekend after she followed her first round 77 with a second-day 86. Senior Kayla Ketcheson (St. Andrews, Manitoba) had the best round of the day, finishing with an 85. Ketcheson shot an 82 on Friday to give her a 167 for the weekend.

Freshman Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) finished tied for 67th after shooting an 87 on the second day to follow her 79 from Friday for a 166. Hannah Russell (Monson, Mass.) matched her first day output with an 86 on the second day while sophomore Angelica Muscatelli (North Providence, R.I.) improved by 14 strokes from the first day. Muscatelli carded a 102 on Friday but rebounded with an 88 on Saturday.

Quinnipiac is back in action on Oct. 13-14 when it travels to Maple Dale Country Club to take on Delaware State.
