Women's Golf Heads Into Second Day Of Dartmouth Invitational In 5th Place Out Of 11 Teams
Quinnipiac captain Jenn Whaley finished in 9th place on the first day of the Dartmouth Invitational to lead the Bobcats to a 5th place finish out of 11 teams on the first day of the tournament at the Hanover Golf Course.
"Jenn Whaley's 74 was really very special," head coach John O'Connor said. "She played very focused and hung in over the last three holes to finish up with a great round."
Whaley shot a two-under on the back nine to card the second-best 18-hole finish in program history. It was also the second-year Bobcats' best opening round score in her career. Sophomore Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) shot a 77 for a tie of 11th place while senior captain Jenn Forlenza (Wayne, N.J.) shot a career personal-best 81 for a tie of 26th place.
"Nicole Scola struggled over the last couple of holes, or else she would have been right with Whaley. The story of the day is Jenn Forlenza's new personal best with an 81. Before her 84 last week, it was an 89 - she's really come along way. She's been a tremendous addition as team captain. Her and Jenn Whaley has done a phenomenal job."
Quinnipiac resumes play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 15.
