Appalachian State won the third annual Quinnipiac tournament, placing three players in the top five. Leading the way for Appalachia State was Haley Zagoria who shot a 78 on both days for a combined 156, edging Quinnipiac's Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.) by two strokes.
Scola followed up her first-day 79 with a 79 on Tuesday for a combined 158. Scola birdied to open the day before parring four holes on the front nine. After a bogey on 10 and a double-bogey on 11, she settled in an parred five of the last seven holes.
Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) shot a 172 (82-90) for 14th place while Alexa Gentile (Avon, Conn.) shook-off a rough first day to trim seven strokes off her first-round score. Gentile shot a 92 on Monday, for a tie of 27th place, before carding an 85 for the final round to finish tied for 17th.
The Quinnipiac Classic was the final event of the Bobcats' fall schedule. They will now train over the winter in preparation for the sping season and the 2014 MAAC Championship.
