EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The venue of Quinnipiac University's next women's golf tournament has been changed due to the inclement weather that has peppered New England. The 2014 Brown University Invitational will now be played at the Metacomet Country Club, located on 500 Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence. The tournament will begin at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Quinnipiac is coming off of a strong showing at the Delaware State Invitational this past weekend. Three Bobcats, led by Nicole Scola (Westerly, R.I.), scored in the 80's in the final round to move up the leaderboard. Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Conn.) was Quinnipiac's low round for the tournament, posting a 162 after shooting a pair of 81's. Scola posted a 168 (88-80) and Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) fired an 85 to finish with a 173 for the weekend.
"Everything is gelling at the right time," said Quinnipiac head coach John O'Connor after the tournament. "I'm pretty pleased with the way our players are improving. It was a great day, the weather was good, and I'm very encouraged by the direction the team is headed."
Following the Brown Invitational, Quinnipiac has one more tournament before the MAAC Championships. (April 18 at the Columbia Invitational). The Bobcats will then travel to Florida to compete in the 2014 MAAC Championships at Palms Disney Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista on April 25-27.
