Ten
Speed
After
scoring the Bobcats' lone goal in their 2-1 loss to No. 4 Clarkson
on Dec. 4, freshman forward Heather Hughes (Stouffville, Ontario)
boosted her season tally to ten goals on the year. The freshman
forward set a program record with the score, becoming the only
player in the team's history to score ten goals in the first half
of the season. Hughes went on to tally an assist in the game
against St. Lawrence on Dec. 5, giving her seven helpers thus far
on the year. Hughes currently leads the team in goals (10), points
(17), and ties to rank first in assists (7). She also ties to rank
second in ECAC Hockey in goals.
Double
Duffy
In the
Bobcats' last weekend series against No. 4 Clarkson and St.
Lawrence, Duffy put up two points on the weekend. Against the
Golden Knights, Duffy won a faceoff during a Quinnipiac power
play-opportunity, moving the puck back to freshman defender Felica
Vieweg (Port Orange, Fla.) who blasted the puck on net where Hughes
scooped up the rebound for the 1-0 lead in the second period. The
assist was Duffy's team-leading seventh of the season. On the
following day at St. Lawrence, Duffy gave the Bobcats a 2-1 lead in
the second period when she collected a loose puck off the pads off
the Saints' goaltender and flicked it into the upper corner for her
seventh goal of the season. The senior ranks second on the team in
points (17) and goals (7).
We Want
Some Flor!
Senior
forward Kallie Flor (Farmington, Minn.) picked up the Bobcats third
goal of the weekend, as she scored the first Quinnipiac goal
against St. Lawrence on Dec. 5. In similar fashion to both Duffy
and Hughes' goals, Flor positioned herself just outside the crease
and gathered a rebound of the goalies' pads and tapped it past to
tie the game at one. The senior currently ranks fourth on the team
in points, as she has tallied four goals and three assists for
seven points on the year.
Apples to
Apples
In
addition to Hughes and Duffy, four different Bobcats dished out
assists in the weekend at Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Vieweg earned
her third assist of the year when her blast from the point was
picked up by Hughes against the Golden Knights, while sophomores
Bethany Dymarczyk (Hamden, Conn.) and Stacey Kmill (Thunder Bay,
Ontario) and freshman Regan Boulton (Brandon, Manitoba) each
assisted on the goals against the Saints. Kmill and Boulton each
recorded their second assist of the season, while Dymarczyk
recorded her sixth of the year on the weekend.
Super
Saver
Rookie
net minder Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) has become a
constant on the ECAC Hockey goaltending leaderboards. The freshman
has been ranked atop the league in four of the conference
categories through 18 games played. After posting 48 saves on the
weekend against Clarkson and St. Lawrence, Vigilanti ranks third in
saves (394) and save percentage (.936). She also ranks fourth in
goals-against average (1.63) and fifth in win percentage
(.500).
