Women's Ice Hockey Receives Votes In National Polls For Fourth Consecutive Week

HAMDEN, Conn. - For the fourth consecutive week, the Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey team has received votes in the weekly USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll in addition to earning votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's Poll. The Bobcats received three votes in each poll after their 1-0-1 weekend at Cornell and Colgate.

Quinnipiac opened the weekend series with a scoreless draw at Cornell, who had been ranked 10th in the USA Today/USA Magazine poll on Feb. 2. Freshman goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) recorded her season-high mark in saves as she turned aside 37 shots by the Big Red. In the following game at Colgate, senior forward Evelina Husar (Eskilstuna, Sweden) scored the first game-winning goal of her career in the Bobcats' 2-1 victory. It was the sixth time this season where the Quinnipiac defense allowed just one goal in a weekend series.

The three-point weekend boosted the Bobcats into fifth place in ECAC Hockey as they have 22 points in conference play. Quinnipiac will serve as host for the final two weekends of conference play, hosting the top-seeded Clarkson and the fourth-seeded St. Lawrence this weekend, followed by the final regular-season games against Yale and Brown on Feb. 19 and 20. The ECAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship will start the weekend of Feb. 26-28 and will feature the top eight teams, with the top four seeds serving as host.

Quinnipiac returns to the TD Bank Sports Center this weekend as they host St. Lawrence and No. 4 Clarkson. The Bobcats will play the Saints on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Golden Knights on Saturday at 4 p.m.
