HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey freshman forward Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) has been selected to Canada’s U-22 National Team, as announced by Hockey Canada on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The team, consisting of 22 players, will represent Canada at the 2012 Meco Cup in Fussen, Germany, set to take place January 3-8, 2012.
Kosta is one of eight skaters that will represent ECAC Hockey at the Meco Cup, as Cornell will send six players and Clarkson one skater. The Mississauga native currently leads Quinnipiac with six assists and ranks first among freshman skaters on the squad with seven overall points on the season.
In addition to Canada, national teams from Germany, Finland, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland will participate in this year’s Meco Cup. The Canadian squad seeks its third straight (and ninth overall) gold medal at this year’s games.
