HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team visited the Bear Path School in Hamden on Tuesday, Jan. 10 as part of the Athletic Department's Positive Play program. The Bobcats led class discussions on how to live a healthy lifestyle, educating the children about certain nutritious foods and the importance of daily exercise.
"As a team we love visiting schools," said senior captain Jordan Elkins (Wasilla, Alaska). "I think a lot of it is because we know that when we were that age we would have been so excited if college athletes came into our class to read to us or answer questions. The teachers and students are always so nice and it's just another way we can show our thanks for their support and attendance at our games. Every time we go, it's hard to tell who has the better time, the students or our team."
Elkins and the Bobcats return to action this coming weekend when they travel to face ECAC Hockey opponents No. 3/3 Cornell on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and Colgate on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m.
