Victoria Vigilanti Named ECAC Hockey Goaltender Of The Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior goaltender Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) has been named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday, Oct. 4. This marks Vigilanti's 10th career selection as Goaltender of the Week.

Vigilanti made a combined 54 saves during the Bobcats' first two regular-season contests over the weekend against No.8 Mercyhurst on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1. Following a 30-save performance on Friday, the junior stopped all 24 shots faced on Saturday, earning her 15th career shutout in the team's 1-0 victory.

The Woodbridge native, who holds the program record for most Goaltender of the Week selections, earned such recognition on five separate occasions last year. Vigilanti also set a new personal-high during the 2010-11 season, as she made nine shutouts en route to becoming the league-leader with 21 wins.

The Bobcats host their first home games of the 2011-12 season when Maine comes to town for a two-game set on Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest is a 1 p.m. start.
