Quinnipiac Women's Ice Hockey Has 11 Student-Athletes Honored On 2012-13 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team placed 11 student-athletes on the 2012-13 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. Of the 11 student-athletes honored by ECAC Hockey, eight have received the award in previous years. 

Senior captain Regan Boulton headlines the list of four-time honorees. In addition to Boulton, Anna Borgfeldt, Nicole Kosta, Elena Orlando, Ashley Winslow, Amanda Colin, Breeann Frykas and Chelsea Laden also received the honor again. In addition, first-time honorees Olivia Brackett, Nicole Connery and Kristen Tamberg rounded out the Bobcats' list.

Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or havea GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters. 

Quinnipiac finished the 2012-13 season with the the most ECAC Hockey wins (13) in program history and another 20-win season. They earned the No. 4 seed and hosted just their second-ever ECAC Hockey playoff series. Four players made the All-ECAC Hockey Teams and three different players were honored at times throughout the season as ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, the most among any team in the conference. The team also garnered the Turfer Athletic Sportsmanship Trophy for their strong character on and off the ice.

Quinnipiac's High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center has been selected as the host site for the 2014 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship. Quinnipiac is the first ECAC Hockey institution to host the NCAA Women's Frozen Four on campus since its inception in 2001. St. Lawrence hosted the 2007 championship at Lake Placid, N.Y.
