NEUBERG, AUSTRIA – Former Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Brittany Lyons (Canton, Mass.) was recently featured in an online post on the Women'sHockeyLife blog. Lyons wrote a firsthand account of her trip overseas with fellow teammate Felica Vieweg (Port Orange, Fla.) and first week with her new team, the Neuberg Highlanders.
WomensHockeyLife was founded by former UConn Huskie Jaclyn Hawkins and "provides much needed information resource for all who are interested in participating in the sport at every level - recreational, university, professional (post university) and for those who are doing it now, or have enjoyed it in the past."
Lyons and Vieweg both signed with the Highlanders of Austria's European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) Division I this past May. Lyons finished her career seventh all-time with 67 points (39 goals, 28 assists) in 142 games played at Quinnipiac while Vieweg tallied 29 career points (seven goals, 22 assists) and finished her career with the most games played (147) of any Bobcat ever.
As Lyons quoted in May of her decision to sign with Neuberg, "I am so happy with the decisions I have made in my career to get me to this point. I had offers from Australia, Germany, and Sweden but i wanted to play with my best friend as well so I chose Austria. I cannot wait to travel with my best friend while playing the sport we both love so much. It truly is an honor to be a part of and I cannot wait to see what the future holds."
