HAMDEN, Conn. – After an explosive seven point weekend, earning her MVP honors for the 2013 Nutmeg Classic, Quinnipiac women's ice hockey senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) was honored as the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Babstock earns her second Player of the Week honor of the season and 10th of her illustrious career.

The Bobcats' leader in points this season led every player in the nation with eight points across a span of three games. Babstock highlighted her efforts with an MVP honor after her seven point outburst in the Bobcats' title run in the 2013 Nutmeg Classic. It was her second time winning the Nutmeg Classic MVP in her career but her seven points accumulated through the two games was the most for any player ever in the 10 year history of the annual clash of Connecticut schools.

She started the week with a crucial assist in the Bobcats 1-1 tie with Princeton on Tuesday. Her assist helped lead to the Bobcats' only goal on the evening, a strike from the slot by Shiann Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.).

Quinnipiac's all-time leading scorer followed up with five points (one goal, four assists) against RIT in the Nutmeg Classic First Round showdown. It marked the third time in her career she tallied at least five points in a game but with Darkangelo's five point outburst, it was Quinnipiac's first time in program history wherein they had two players total five points in a single game. Babstock continued her ways on Saturday where she tallied two assists, including the first assist on the game-tying goal in the second period. Her +5 plus/minus rating led all players on the team as she was the key player in the Bobcats' undefeated week (2-0-1).

With this being her 10th such Player of the Week honor in her career, Babstock leads all active conference players in that category while she leads No. 1 Minnesota's Hannah Brandt for the nation's leading scorer by one point through the first half of the season.

Babstock and the No. 8 Bobcats will hit the ice against Union and Rensselaer this weekend as they wrap up their 2013 slate before embarking on their annual month-long winter break.
