ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's ice hockey junior goalie Chelsea Laden (Lakeville, Minn.) has won her second ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week this season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Laden picks up the weekly honor after guiding the Bobcats to a road weekend sweep against then-No. 3 ranked Cornell and Colgate, the first ever for Quinnipiac playing against the Big Red and Raiders on the road.

The Bobcats' stalwart g oalie had one of the best weekends of her career as she helped Quinnipiac pick up their first weekend road sweep of Cornell and Colgate in program history. With the Bobcats needing at least three points to guarantee home ice in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals, Laden stepped up her play with a season-high 27 saves to earn a 2-1 victory over No. 3 ranked Cornell. The victory came in one of the best games of Laden's career as she allowed the first goal at 10:46 but managed to keep the nation's third-highest scoring offense off the scoreboard for the remaining 49:14 of play. Combining with her defense, the Bobcats managed to kill off all three Cornell power play opportunities throughout the duration of the game to help earn a victory over the highest-ranked opponent in Quinnipiac's program history in addition to the first win in Lynah Rink since Nov. 18, 2006.

She followed that up with her seventh shutout of the season (third-best in the nation) in a 3-0 victory over Colgate, one that clinched home ice for the Bobcats in the opening round of the playoffs. Laden made 12 saves in the effort as she stymied the Raiders once again, shutting them out for the second time this season (0 goals allowed, 20 saves in 6-0 victory on Nov. 1).

Quinnipiac, who finished the 2013-14 regular season with a 20-5-9 record and 11-4-7 in league play, received their highest ranking (7th) in the USCHO poll since Nov. 18 on Monday. Laden has played an instrumental role with a 17-5-9 record, 1.41 GAA (6th in Division I), .929 save percentage (14th in Div. I) and seven shutouts (3rd in Div. I).

Laden and the Bobcats will return home this weekend for their ECAC Hockey Quarterfinal showdown with St. Lawrence in a best-of-three series. Game One is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 pm.
