Kelly Babstock Named to Fourth Straight New England Division I All-Star Team

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named to 2013-14 New England Division I Women's Ice Hockey All-Star Team, as announced by the committee on Wednesday, April 2. The recipients, consisting of six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders, were chosen by administrators and media members.

This is the fourth straight New England All-Star honor for Babstock after finishing her illustrious career at Quinnipiac with another standout season. Babstock finished the 2013-14 season with 19 goals and a single-season program record 30 assists for 49 points. She also helped guide the Bobcats to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals, 22 straight weeks ranked in the USCHO Top 10 and Quinnipiac's best single-season record (22-6-9) in program history.

Boston University's sophomore forward Sarah Lefort was named the New England Player of the Year while Vermont's Jim Plumer took home Coach of the Year honors. Joining Babstock among the All-New England forward group is Lefort, Vermont's Amanda Pelkey, Boston College's Haley Skarupa, Yale's Phoebe Staenz and Boston University's Louise Warren.

Babstock finished the season with the 8th-most points of any player in the nation and 4th-most of anyone in the ECAC Hockey. Her +32 plus/minus rating this season tied for the best mark of her career while she finished as just one of seven players in the nation to be ranked in the Top 10 points per game, Top 20 goals per game and Top 10 assists per game. She led the team with 13 multi-point games, all of which ended in victories for the Bobcats.

The highest scoring player the program has ever seen, Babstock finished her four-year career at Quinnipiac with 203 points (95 goals, 108 assists). Already the only 100-point scorer in Quinnipiac's women's hockey history, Babstock closed out her career as the program's record holder in every offensive single-game and career scoring record. She is also just the third player in Quinnipiac ice hockey history (male or female) to reach 200 career points, finishing behind Chris Cerrella '01 (205 points) with the 2nd-most career points scored at Quinnipiac.
