Lyndsey Banach Receives IWLCA Community Awareness Award
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse junior midfielder Lyndsey Banach (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been honored as one of two players from across the nation with the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Community Awareness Award. The IWLCA also honored Pfeiffer's Patty Hunter as the recipient of the Community Awareness honor, while Princeton's Kristin Schwab, Southern New Hampshire's Julie Kraus and Elizabethtown's Anna Ford were named the IWLCA's Scholar-Athlete of the Year from across all three Divisions.

Hannah Nelson Finishes 2009 As National Statistical Champion With Top Save Percentage
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse goalkeeper Hannah Nelson (Glastonbury, Conn.) concluded the 2009 season as the National Statistical Champion for save percentage. Nelson's mark of .547 was the best in the nation as she allowed 86 goals, while turning aside 104 shots on the season. Nelson also posted an 8-3 record during her senior season, helping the Bobcats finish the year with the fifth-best winning percentage in the country (.813.) and a program best record of 13-3.

Ashley Valentine Selected To Play In IWLCA/Under-Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game
Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named a participant in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under-Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game for Division I. The game will be played in Downingtown, Pa., on Saturday, June 13 and will feature 43 players from across Division I split into Northern and Southern teams. Valentine is the first Quinnipiac player ever to be selected to participate in the game. Players must have completed their final year of eligibility to play in the game.

Women's Lacrosse Announces 2009 Team Awards
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team announced its 2009 team awards. Five members of the Bobcats were honored in a ceremony Friday afternoon. Awards for best offensive and defensive players were handed out along with best midfielder, most improved and the Becca M. Kohli Award. The honors were voted on by the players following the conclusion of the season.

Women's Lacrosse Falls To Sacred Heart, 11-6, In NEC Championship Game
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team lost to Sacred Heart, 11-6, in the Northeast Conference Championship Game at Campus Field. The loss snaps the Bobcats' program-record nine-game win streak and leaves the team with a 13-3 overall record to end the season. The Pioneers claimed its second-straight NEC Championship with the win, improving to 12-6 and earning a spot in the NCAA Play-In Game next Saturday at MAAC Champion Fairfield

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team squares off with Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference Championship Game for the second year in a row Sunday afternoon in Fairfield at 1 p.m. The Bobcats advanced to the title game by dispatching Mount St. Mary's, 11-9, in the semifinals for the second-straight season. The top-seeded and tournament-host Pioneers took out No. 4 Monmouth, 13-7, earlier in the day's first semifinal matchup. Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart finished the season Co-Regular Season Champions after posting identical 7-1 league records with the Pioneers owning the tie-breaker. The Bobcats pushed their winning streak to nine games and their record to 13-2.

Marissa Caroleo Named NEC Women's Lacrosse Rookie Of The Year
Freshman Marissa Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, the league announced at its annual banquet. Quinnipiac landed a conference-high four players on the All-NEC First Team. Senior midfielder Tiffany Manzi (Agawam, Mass.) was named to the First Team for the second year in a row and third time in her career, while senior Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) joins her following a Second-Team honor last season.

Women's Lacrosse Defeats Mount St. Mary's, 11-9, In NEC Semifinals
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team defeated Mount St. Mary's, 11-9, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals at Sacred Heart's Campus Field. Junior Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) scored once and added five assists for six points in the team's 13th victory of the season. The win also pushed the Bobcats' win streak to a program-record eight games, while eliminating the Mountaineers from the postseason for the second-straight year. Quinnipiac will take on Sacred Heart in the NEC Championship Game Sunday in Fairfield at 1 p.m.

Live Videostream Available For Women's Lacrosse's NEC Tournament Game Against Mount St. Mary's
A live videostream and play-by-play by WQAQ will be available when the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team begins play in its sixth consecutive Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday at 2:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart's Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn. The Bobcats square off against Mount St. Mary's in the semifinals for the second year in a row. Last season, Quinnipiac won its first ever postseason game, 12-11, against the Mount in Hamden. Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart each claimed a share of the 2009 NEC Regular-Season Championship after both teams posted 7-1 conference records. The Mount had an opportunity to also claim a share of the regular-season title, but a loss on the final day of the season gave the Bobcats and the Pioneers the crown.

Tiffany Manzi Named NEC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player Of The Week
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse senior midfielder Tiffany Manzi (Agawam, Mass.) was named the Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time this season that Manzi, the reigning NEC Player of the Year, has been recognized by the conference and the second time in her career that she has been honored as the league's top defensive player after claiming the award last season. Manzi helped the Bobcats secure a share of the NEC Regular Season Championship for the second year in a row with her defensive efforts in wins against Brown, Wagner and Monmouth this past week.

Women's Lacrosse Wins Final Regular-Season Game, 7-4, At Monmouth
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team clinched a share of the Northeast Conference Regular-Season Championship with a 7-4 victory against Monmouth. Senior captain Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) scored two goals in the game as the Bobcats end the season on eight-game win streak to finish with a 7-1 NEC record and 12-2 overall. The 7-1 mark clinches a tie for the regular-season title with Sacred Heart for the second-straight year and gives the Bobcats the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Women's Lacrosse Wraps Up Regular Season Sunday At Monmouth
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team plays in its final regular-season game of the year Sunday at Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J. The Bobcats clinched their sixth-straight berth in the Northeast Conference Tournament with their 18-13 victory against Wagner on Friday. The win was the 11th of the season, setting a new program single-season mark. The five-goal win also tied the mark set last season with its seventh-straight win.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team clinched its sixth-straight Northeast Conference Tournament berth with an 18-13 win against Wagner on Senior Day at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. In her final regular-season home game, senior captain Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) set new career highs with six goals and seven points. The win improves the Bobcats' NEC record to 6-1 and 11-2 overall. The 11 victories are a new program single-season record, while the team tied the single-season mark with its seventh-straight win. Wagner drops to 3-4 in conference play with the loss and are 4-11 overall.

Women's Lacrosse Hosts Wagner On Senior Day Friday At 4 P.M.
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team hosts Wagner on Friday at 4 p.m., in the final regular-season home game of the year. Seven members of the Bobcats will be honored as the team will recognize Senior Day with ceremonies beginning at 3:30 p.m. Quinnipiac enters the game on a six-game winning streak after defeating Brown, 11-6, on Tuesday afternoon. The victory was the 10th of the year, tying the program's single-season mark for wins in a season.

Women's Lacrosse Defeats Brown, 11-6
Tiffany Manzi's (Agawam, Mass.) four points helped lead the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team to an 11-6 victory against Brown at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats improve to 10-2 overall, tying the program single-season wins record. The loss evens the Bears' season mark at 6-6. The five-goal win marked the sixth consecutive Quinnipiac victory, one shy of the program record of seven, set last season.

Women's Lacrosse Plays Host To Brown Tuesday At 4:30 P.M.
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team hosts Brown on Tuesday afternoon in the final non-conference game of the season. The Bobcats are currently riding a five-game win streak after dispatching Saint Francis (Pa.) and Robert Morris during a two-game road trip through Western Pennsylvania this weekend. Quinnipiac's 5-1 Northeast Conference record has the Bobcats in second place in the league standings, while its 9-2 overall mark is the best in the NEC.

Ashley Valentine Named NEC Women's Lacrosse Player Of The Week
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse senior midfielder Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) was named the Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week. This is the second time in her career that Valentine has been named the NEC Player of the Week, with her first coming on April 2, 2007. She was also named the NEC Rookie of the Week during her freshman season of 2006. Valentine led the Bobcats with 10 points on six goals and four assists in the team's two wins against Saint Francis (Pa.) and Robert Morris over the weekend. Her defensive play also limited two of the top offensive players from the Colonials and Red Flash to four points.

Fiore's Double-Overtime Goal Lifts Women's Lacrosse To 12-11 Win Against Robert Morris
Nicole Fiore's (Monroe, Conn.) goal with two seconds remaining in double overtime gave the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team a 12-11 victory against Robert Morris at Joe Walton Stadium. The Bobcats' senior attacker received a pass from Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) at the side of the goal and slipped the shot into the back of the net for the game-winning goal. Quinnipiac improves to 5-1 in Northeast Conference play and 9-2 overall this season with the win, while the loss drops the Colonials' record to 3-3 in conference and 7-7 overall.

Women's Lacrosse Travels To Robert Morris Saturday At Noon
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team plays the second game of its Western Pennsylvania road trip Saturday at noon in Moon Township, Pa., against Robert Morris. The Bobcats are coming off a 15-goal victory, 24-9, at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Thursday afternoon. Quinnipiac jumped up two spots in the Northeast Conference standings with the win, improving to 4-1 in conference play and 8-2 overall this season.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team embarks on a two-game road trip to Pennsylvania this week after a five-game homestand. The first game pits the Bobcats against Saint Francis on Thursday afternoon in Loretto, Pa. Quinnipiac enters the game with a 7-2 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Northeast Conference play after defeating Mount St. Mary's, 19-5, Sunday afternoon in Hamden. The 14-goal win gave the Bobcats sole possession of fourth place in the league standings and was the first conference loss of the season for the Mount.

Devon Gibney And Katie Latonick Honored By NEC
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse junior Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) was named the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week, while freshman Devon Gibney (Hopkinton, Mass.) was honored as the league's Co-Rookie of the Week, the league office today announced. This marks the fourth consecutive week that the Bobcats have been honored with a weekly accolade from the NEC. Latonick shares the award with Sacred Heart's Carissa Hauser and Ashley Prizio of Long Island joins Gibney as the NEC's top rookie.

HAMDEN, Conn. ? Junior Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) and freshman Devon Gibney (Hopkinton, Mass.) each had six points as the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team defeated Mount St. Mary's, 19-5, at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. Latonick finished with four assists, giving her 12 in the last two games, while Gibney's four goals and six points were both career highs. The Bobcats' win over the Mountaineers, which entered the game unbeaten in Northeast Conference play, improves their record to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Mount drops to 4-9 overall, while 4-1 in the NEC.

Women's Lacrosse Concludes Homestand Against Mount St. Mary's On Sunday
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team plays host to the Northeast Conference leading Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bobcats are coming off a 14-9 win over Bryant on Friday in which junior Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) recorded a Quinnipiac single-game record for assists with eight. The Mountaineers and Bobcats met last season in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament with Quinnipiac winning 12-11. It was the first postseason victory in the program's history.

The nine points also eclipsed her previous career high of five, set in the team's last game against Long Island. The win improves the Bobcats' overall season record to 6-2, while the Bulldogs drop to 3-7 with the loss.

Freshman Marissa Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week after a career performance against Long Island Sunday afternoon. Caroleo scored six goals and added an assist for seven points in the team's 22-10 win over the Blackbirds. This is the third consecutive week that a member of the Bobcats has been honored by the conference as Nicole Fiore (Monroe, Conn.) and Erin Coffey (Huntington, N.Y.) were named the Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Erin Coffey Named NEC Defensive Player Of The Week
Senior Erin Coffey (Huntington, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was honored as the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Coffey led the Bobcats with 10 ground balls and eight caused turnovers in the Bobcats' two games over the weekend against Detroit Mercy and Sacred Heart. This is the first time that Coffey has been recognized by the league with a weekly accolade during her career and joins fellow senior Nicole Fiore (Monroe, Conn.) as the only two members of the team to take home NEC awards this season.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team began a five-game homestand with a 17-7 victory against Detroit Mercy at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. Senior co-captain Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) led the way with five points on three goals and two assists, while sophomore Christine Sinnigen (Sudbury, Mass.) added three goals and one assist. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-1 overall, while the Titans drop to 2-5 in their inaugural season at the Division I level.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse returns to action after a one-week hiatus when it takes on Detroit Mercy Friday, Mar. 20 at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats last played on Mar. 13 at Iona. Quinnipiac completed its second-half comeback with a Tiffany Manzi (Feeding Hills, Mass.) free-position goal with six seconds remaining in regulation to earn the 12-11 victory over the Gaels. The win gives the Bobcats a 3-1 overall mark this season and a two-game win streak heading into this weekend.

Nicole Fiore Named NEC Women's Lacrosse Player Of The Week
Senior Nicole Fiore (Monroe, Conn.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week. Fiore led the Bobcats with four goals in each of the Bobcats' two wins last week against Central Connecticut and Iona. She is the NEC leader in goals per game (3.75), while ranking second in points per game (4.5) this season. The senior attacker finished the week with eight goals, one assist, three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. This is Fiore's first NEC weekly accolade of her career.

Senior Tiffany Manzi (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored a free-position goal with six seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory against Iona. The goal completed a second-half comeback that saw the Bobcats overcome a three-goal deficit in the final period. The win improves Quinnipiac's record to 3-1, while Iona drops to 1-4 with the loss.

The sophomore attacker scored two goals and dished out three assists for five points in the game. The Bobcats improve 2-1 this season and are now 1-0 in league play with the win. The loss drops the Blue Devils' mark to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the NEC.

The loss evens the Bobcats' mark at 1-1 this season, while the Crimson improve to 2-1 with the win.

Senior Nicole Fiore (Monroe, Conn.) had six points in the win as she scored four goals and assisted on two others. It was the second consecutive year that Quinnipiac defeated its intra-state rivals from Storrs after going winless in the first eight meetings between the teams.

Five members of the Bobcats registered multiple points as the team improves to 1-0 for the third year in a row. The loss drops the Huskies' overall mark to 0-4 this season. The win marked the second consecutive year that Quinnipiac defeated its intra-state rival after taking last season's contest 10-6.

Women's Lacrosse Hosts UConn In Season Opener On Thursday At 2:30 P.M.
The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team kicks off its 2009 season on Thursday, Mar. 5, when it hosts UConn. The game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 4, marks the first contest of the season for the Bobcats, who are coming off of a share of the 2008 Northeast Conference Regular Season Championship. Quinnipiac was predicted to finish first in the 2009 NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll after earning the No. 1 seed and finishing as conference runners-up last year. Returning for the Bobcats will be the 2008 NEC Player of the Year Tiffany Manzi (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and last year's NEC Defensive Player of the Year junior goalkeeper Hannah Nelson (Glastonbury, Conn.).

Women's Lacrosse Will Host "Friends Of Jaclyn" During Season Opener Against UConn
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will participate in the Friends of Jaclyn College Lacrosse Week during its season-opening game against the University of Connecticut on Mar. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf. Friends of Jaclyn is a non-profit organization geared towards improving the lives of children and their families affected by pediatric brain tumors. The women's lacrosse team is asking spectators to consider donations to the Friends of Jaclyn upon entry to the turf complex. Quinnipiac will also wear Friends of Jaclyn t-shirts during warm-ups with profits from purchasing the t-shirts to go directly to the organization.

Ashley Valentine Featured In Lacrosse Magazine
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse senior co-captain Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) was featured in the February issue of Lacrosse Magazine. Valentine was the topic of a feature called 'ISO: Be My Valentine'; a one-on-one one that also features her cousin Lisa Valentine, a former member of the Maryland women's lacrosse team.

Women's Lacrosse To Collect Used Wireless Phones At TD Banknorth Sports Center On Feb. 7
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will collect previously used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any wireless provider during the basketball doubleheader and women's ice hockey game this Saturday, Feb. 7 at the TD Banknorth Sports Center. The collection is part of the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, which benefits victims of domestic abuse.

Danie Caro Speaks At US Lacrosse National Convention
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro recently spoke at the US Lacrosse National Convention in Baltimore, Md. The two-day convention featured speakers from across the country, including keynote speaker Cal Ripken Jr. Caro and US Lacrosse Women's Division Rules Committee Chair Pat Dillon presented a session entitled 'Game is Decided By the Goal: Umpiring and Coaching the Crease' on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Women's Lacrosse Picked First In NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office today announced. The Bobcats were tri-regular season champions last season after posting a 7-1 mark in conference play and earning the top seed in the NEC Tournament. Quinnipiac received four first-place votes, one more than second-place Monmouth and two spots ahead of defending conference champion Sacred Heart. Mount St. Mary's rounded out the top four teams, all of which made the postseason in 2008.

Women's Lacrosse Announces Captains For 2009 Season
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro has announced captains for the 2009 season. Tiffany Manzi (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Ashley Valentine (Friendship, Md.) will serve as captains for the upcoming year, while Lyndsey Banach (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Meghan Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) will be assistant captains. Manzi was named the 2008 Northeast Conference Player of the Year after leading the Bobcats to a share of the regular season conference championship, while Valentine was named to the All-NEC Second Team.

Women's Lacrosse Announces Nine National Letter Of Intent Signings
HAMDEN, Conn. ? Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro has announced the signing of nine players to National Letters of Intent for the 2010 season. Four attackers, three midfielders and two defenders signed on to play for the Bobcats next season. Emily Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.), Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.), Chelsea Guerrera (Wantagh, N.Y.), Kayla Hamberry (Edgewater, Md.), Jackie Keleher (Manlius, N.Y.), Mary Kate Manganiello (Media, Pa.), Emily Mason (Fairfield, Conn.), Dianna Milano (Lansdale, Pa.) and Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) all will be coming to Quinnipiac next fall.

Kate Backman Named Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach
Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro today announced the hiring of Kate Backman as an assistant coach. Backman's primary responsibilities will include planning and implementation of practice and game strategies while also focusing on expanding the Bobcats' local recruiting efforts in Connecticut and New England. She will also assist Caro in all aspects of program management.

Women's Lacrosse Earns Two IWLCA Academic Honors
HAMDEN, Conn. ? The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was one of just 50 Division I teams to be recognized as one of Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coach's Association Division I Academic Squads. The distinction is given to teams with a collective GPA of 3.0 or higher. Quinnipiac finished 15th in the nation with a 3.26 team GPA last season.
