Women's Lacrosse Junior Kaitlyn Kelly Named To IWLCA North Region Second Team
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse junior defender Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa, N.Y.) has been named to the 2010 Intercollegiate Women's #$%^Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North Region Second Team. Kelly becomes the first player in Quinnipiac's program history to be honored with #$%^a spot on the IWLCA's national postseason team.

Women's Lacrosse Names Brittany Hauser Assistant Coach For 2011 Season
Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro today announced the hiring #$%^of Brittany Hauser (East Northport, N.Y.) as an assistant coach. Hauser recently completed her senior season with the Bobcats, wrapping up a four- #$%^year career that saw three appearances as a member of the All-Northeast Conference Second Team. One of the best defenders during her time at #$%^Quinnipiac, Hauser will work closely with the defense and goalkeepers as well as assisting with day-to-day operations and student-athlete recruiting as #$%^a member of the coaching staff.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team announced its 2010 team awards in a ceremony Sunday afternoon. Awards for outstanding attack, #$%^midfielder, and defensive player were handed out along with honors for most improved player and the Becca M. Kohli Ultimate Bobcat Award.

Women's Lacrosse Falls To Sacred Heart, 12-7, In NEC Championship Game
For the third year in a row, the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference Championship Game. The Pioneers' eight second-half goals pushed them past the Bobcats, 12-7, Sunday afternoon at Sacred Heart's Campus Field. The loss drops Quinnipiac's overall record this season to 10-7, while Sacred Heart heads into the NCAA Tournament with 14-4 overall record.

Women's Lacrosse Plays At Sacred Heart In NEC Championship Game Sunday At 1 PM
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will meet a familiar foe Sunday in the 2010 Northeast Conference Championship Game as it takes on #$%^Sacred Heart for the third straight year in the league's title game. The championship tilt is set for 1 p.m., from Sacred Heart's Campus Field in Fairfield, #$%^Conn. The two top seeds in the NEC will meet for the third time in the last three years in the NEC Championship Game. More recently, this will be the #$%^second time the two teams have met in the last three games, having played the final game of the regular season against one another on April 17. The #$%^Pioneers defeated the Bobcats, 9-5, to earn the regular season title and the No. 1 seed.

Kaitlyn Kelly Named 2010 NEC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse junior defender Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa, N.Y.) was named the 2010 Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year Thursday night at the league's annual banquet. Kelly becomes the third player in program history to earn the honor, joining goalkeeper Hannah Nelson in 2008 and Vanessa Miranda in 2006. Five Quinnipiac players were named to the All-NEC First and Second Teams, while two were honored with spots on the first-ever NEC All-Rookie Team

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team advanced to its third straight Northeast Conference Championship Game with an 8-4 win Friday #$%^afternoon against Monmouth in the league's semifinals. The Bobcats will play Sacred Heart for the title for the third year in a row after the Pioneers #$%^defeated Mount St. Mary's, 14-5, in the day's other semifinal matchup. The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will take on Sacred Heart Saturday night at 7 p.m., under the lights of Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn. Both teams enter the final regular-season game of 2010 with 8-0 records in Northeast Conference play. The winner of Saturday night's game will claim the regular season title and the No. 1 seed with the right to host the following weekend's NEC Tournament. Late Goal Pushes Columbia Past Women's Lacrosse, 13-12
In the final regular season home game of the 2010 season, the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team fell to nonconference opponent Columbia, 13-12, Wednesday afternoon. A late goal by the Lions with under two minutes remaining in the game was the difference as the Bobcats had their eight-game winning streak snapped with the loss. Quinnipiac drops to 9-5 this season, but is 8-0 in Northeast Conference play as it heads into Saturday's game at Sacred Heart. The winner will claim the NEC Regular Season Championship as well as the No. 1 seed in the league's postseason tournament.

Katie Latonick Named NEC Women's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week
Graduate student Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week for her performances over three games this past weekend. Latonick scored seven goals and added nine assists for 16 points in three NEC wins over Wagner, Robert Morris and Saint Francis (PA) to help the Bobcats remain undefeated and tied for first place with an 8-0 league mark. This is the second time in her career that Latonick has been honored as the league's top weekly player.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team won its eighth straight game Sunday afternoon against Saint Francis (PA), 19-6, at DeGol Field. The #$%^Bobcats are now 8-0 in Northeast Conference play with a chance to claim its third straight regular season title with a win in its final league game of the #$%^season at Sacred Heart on Saturday, April, 17. The win also improves Quinnipiac's record to 9-4 overall. The loss drops the Red Flash to 2-5 in NEC #$%^games and 6-9 overall.

Women's Lacrosse Defeats Robert Morris, 12-8
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team clinched a spot in 2010 Northeast Conference Tournament with a 12-8 win at Robert Morris' Joe Walton Stadium Friday afternoon. The win was the seventh in a row for the Bobcats who improve to 7-0 in NEC play and 8-4 overall. Robert Morris drops to 3-3 in league games and 5-7 overall. The seven conference wins ties the program's single-season mark set in each of the last two years with two NEC games still remaining in 2010.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will make its semi-annual trip to Western Pennsylvania this weekend to take on Robert Morris and Saint Francis (Pa.). The Bobcats travel to Moon Township, Pa., Friday, April 9 at 12:30 p.m., to square off with the Colonials in the first game of the weekend before making the two-hour trip east to play the Red Flash on Sunday, April 11 at 1 p.m., in Loretto. The Bobcats enter the weekend with a 6-0 record in Northeast Conference play with a chance to lock up one of the high seeds in the league's postseason tournament with two wins.

Women's Lacrosse Holds Off Wagner, 15-11
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team held off a second-half comeback push by the Wagner Seahawks Wednesday afternoon for a 15-11 win. Sophomore Devon Gibney (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored four goals and added two assists for a game-high six points. The Bobcats remain perfect in Northeast Conference play this season with a 6-0 league mark and have won six games in a row to improve their overall mark to 7-4. The loss drops Wagner to 3-9 overall and 2-4 in NEC games in 2010.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team begins a three-game road trip against Northeast Conference opponent Wagner on Wednesday, April 7 at 4 p.m. The Bobcats enter the game with a perfect 5-0 mark in NEC play this season and currently are on a five-game winning streak. Wins against Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's over the weekend has Quinnipiac unbeaten more than halfway through its conference schedule in 2010. Wagner is on the outside looking in at the NEC Tournament picture, sitting tied for fifth with a 2-3 conference record.

Women's Lacrosse Hosts Youth Clinic
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team hosted a free youth clinic for players from the North Haven Youth Lacrosse program on Friday, April 2. Over 40 girls from the North Haven program were in attendance at the clinic and were coached by the Bobcats. The youth players worked on individual stick skills, ground balls, dodging, defense, and shooting, and wrapped up with scrimmages.

Kaitlyn Kelly Named Women's Lacrosse NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Junior Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa, N.Y.) of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season that Kelly has been honored with the conference's weekly award for her play at the defensive end of the field. She shares the award this week with Sacred Heart goalkeeper Chelsea Wagner.

Latonick also added a goal for a game-high six points, helping lead the Bobcats to #$%^their fifth Northeast Conference win on the season. The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team plays host to Mount St. Mary's Saturday, April 3, at 11:00 a.m. Senior Day Ceremonies will take place prior to the start of the game as the Bobcats will honor Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.), Lyndsey Banach (Syracuse, N.Y.), Kaitlyn Vennard (Albany, N.Y.), Kelly Bruneau (Cheshire, Conn.) and Brittany Hauser (East Northport, N.Y.) for their dedication to the team during their careers. Quinnipiac is tied atop the Northeast Conference standings with a 4-0 record following a last-second win against Monmouth on Thursday, 8-7.

Women's Lacrosse Participates In Friends of Jaclyn Week
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will participate in the Friends of Jaclyn College Week during its two games this weekend against Monmouth on Thursday, April 1 at 3 p.m., and Mount St. Mary's Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m., at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf. Friends of Jaclyn is a non-profit organization geared towards improving the lives of children and their families affected by pediatric brain tumors. The women's lacrosse team is asking spectators to consider donations to the Friends of Jaclyn upon entry to the turf complex. Quinnipiac will also wear Friends of Jaclyn t-shirts during warm-ups with proceeds from purchasing the t-shirts to go directly to the organization.

Following a five-game homestand, the LIU game was the first on the road for the team since playing Brown on Mar. 7. The Bobcats are coming off a 10-goal victory, 19-9, Wednesday against Iona in the final contest of a five-game homestand. Entering Friday's matchup in Brooklyn, Quinnipiac is tied for the top spot in the NEC standings with a 2-0 overall mark. The team's win on Wednesday was the second in a row and the third this season.

The win has Quinnipiac in a tie for the top spot in the NEC standings with a 2-0 league record. The Bobcats are 2-2 in the first four games of the homestand, with both wins coming against conference opponents, Central Connecticut and Bryant.

Cal-Berkeley's Second Half Run Drops Women's Lacrosse, 11-9
A late second half surge by California-Berkeley cost the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team a nonconference win Friday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field, falling 11-9. Team captain Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) had a goal and three assists for four points, but the Bobcats allowed Cal to dictate play in the second half, dropping to 1-4 overall this season with the loss. The win was the second of the year for the Golden Bears (2-4) who began a four-game east coast road swing with the game.

Junior Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa, N.Y) and sophomore Devon Gibney (Hopkinton, Mass.) were honored with the first weekly Northeast Conference awards of the 2010 season for the Bobcats. Gibney was named the NEC Player of the Week, while Kelly was honored with the NEC Defensive Player of the Week award. The two members of the Bobcats were honored after guiding the team to a 1-1 weekend, including its first win of the season in its first NEC contest of 2010.

Women's Lacrosse Reads To Local School Children
On Feb. 22, several members of the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team traveled to Erica LaFrance's first grade class at Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (WIMS) in Hamden to read to her students. Head coach Danie Caro's son Tyler is a first grader at the school, and he invited the members of the Bobcats to teach his classmates about lacrosse and read stories in honor of his seventh birthday.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team began its 2010 season with a 16-8 loss against in-state rival UConn Wednesday afternoon at the Sherman-Family Sports Complex. The Bobcats fall to 0-1 with the loss, their first to UConn in three seasons. The Huskies improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory, winning their third straight game after falling in their season opener.

The Bobcats were scheduled to open their season on Friday afternoon against Fairfield, but the game was postponed until March 11 due to inclement weather conditions. The Bobcats are coming off their second straight Northeast Conference regular season championship in 2009 and their second appearance in the league title game in as many seasons. Quinnipiac enters the season as one of the favorites in the NEC to reach the postseason tournament and its third consecutive NEC Championship Game.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team opens the 2010 season Friday afternoon against the Fairfield Stags at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Complex. The Bobcats are coming off their second straight Northeast Conference regular season championship in 2009 and their second appearance in the league title game in as many seasons. Quinnipiac enters the season as one of the favorites in the NEC to reach the postseason tournament and its third consecutive NEC Championship Game.

Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro spoke at the US Lacrosse Annual Convention in Baltimore, Md., in late January. Caro was involved in the event for the second year in a row, participating in four presentations on various topics of interest to the constituents of the Women's Division.

Women's Lacrosse Picked Third In 2010 NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was picked third in the 2010 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bobcats received two first-place votes after earning a share of the regular season championship for the second straight year in 2009. Quinnipiac will return 18 members of last season's team that set new program record for wins (13) and winning percentage in a season (.813). Sacred Heart was picked first after winning its second straight NEC Championship.

Women's Lacrosse Signs Six To National Letters Of Intent
Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro has announced the signing of six players to National Letters of Intent for the 2010-2011 academic year. Meredith Donaldson (Delray Beach, Fla.), Kayla Fu (Severna Park, Md.), Phoebe Laplante (Acushnet, Mass.), Emily Samuelman (North Andover, Mass.), Michaela Tinsley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Melissa Warheit (Commack, N.Y.) will all join the Bobcats in the fall of 2010.

Katie Latonick Named Women's Lacrosse Captain For 2010 Season
Quinnipiac University Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Danie Caro has announced that graduate student Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) will serve as team captain for the 2010 season. Latonick finished the 2009 campaign as the team's second-leading scorer with 54 points after setting a single-season record for assists with 44. She was named to the 2009 Northeast Conference All-Tournament team after racking up nine points on one goal and eight assists in two games against Mount St. Mary's and Sacred Heart. Her nine points helped the Bobcats reach the NEC Championship Game for the second straight season.

Women's Lacrosse Honored By IWLCA For Academic Achievements
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) for academic achievements during the 2008-09 year. The Bobcats are one of just 49 Division I teams to be honored as an IWLCA Academic Squad. A team must post a collective grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher to be eligible to receive the distinction. The Bobcats also landed six players from last year's team to the individual IWLCA Academic Squad. Players must be at least a junior with a GPA of at least 3.5 to qualify for the honor.
