Senior Lyndsey Banach (Syracuse, N.Y.) gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead 3:21 into the game with a free-position goal. Four unanswered tallies by the Stags in the next seven minutes followed the game's opening marker. Quinnipiac answered with a 5-0 run of its own to regain the lead, 6-4. All five goals came from different players as Marissa Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa, N.Y.) started and finished the run with markers by Gibney, Katie Latonick (Severna Park, Md.) and Chelsea Guerrera (Wantagh, N.Y.) mixed in. Guerrera's goal was the first of her career.

Gibney scored twice more in the opening half, but four goals by Fairfield in the final 11:06 of play in the first tied the game, 8-8, at the break.

Three straight Quinnipiac goals by Lauren Matuszczak (East Long Meadow, Mass.), Gibney and Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) started the second frame. Those three tallies came in the first 8:11 of the second and gave the Bobcats an 11-8 lead. The Stags fought back with two more goals from Kristen Coleman, who finished the game with four.

Caroleo's second marker of the contest put Quinnipiac up two, 12-10, with 10:28 to play. That would be the last time the Bobcats would score as four goals from Fairfield in the final eight and a half minutes sealed the victory, 14-13.

The Stags' Erin Rigby scored a game-high seven goals, including six in the opening period. Quinnipiac goalkeeper Noelle Martello (Westbury, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots in the loss, while Fairfield's Katie Keenan made just seven in earning the win.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Mar. 13, when they host Bryant in the team's first Northeast Conference game of the season. The game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
