Women's Lacrosse Junior Marissa Caroleo Named To IWLCA Northeast Region Second Team
"We are very proud to see Marissa recognized by the IWLCA," head coach Danie Caro said. "She had a great year for us on the field and was a key part of the successful season we had. This is the second year that we have had one of our players recognized as one of the top players in the northeast region, and I think it's a positive sign that our program is improving year by year."
Caroleo receives the honor after being named the 2011 Northeast Conference Player of the Year, as she compiled a league-high 63 points on 53 goals and 10 assists. She joins Tiffany Manzi (2008) as the only other player in program-history to be named NEC Player of the Year. Caroleo set her own record during season's play, becoming the first player in program-history to score more than 50 goals in a season, breaking the record set by Marta Waldron when she scored 45 goals in 2002.
