women's lacrosse team (8-4, 5-1 NEC) hosts Northeast Conference
opponent Long Island (1-12, 1-5 NEC) in its final regular season
home game on Sunday, Apr. 17 at 12 p.m. Prior to the start of the
game, Quinnipiac will honor its seven seniors with an on-field
ceremony.

Senior Day Sunday
Sunday's contest
will be the final home game for seven Bobcats on the women's
lacrosse team. Seniors Lexi DeStefano (Brookfield, Conn.), Laura
Iannotti (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Kaitlyn Kelly (North Massapequa,
N.Y.), Lauren Matuszczak (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Kelley McDonough
(Mahopac, N.Y.), Christine Sinnigen (Sudbury, Mass.), and Stephanie
Tuorto (Kings Park, N.Y.) will be highlighted in pre-game
ceremonies.
About Long Island University
Long Island is
coming off a 13-8 loss to Sacred Heart on Friday, Apr. 15. The
Blackbirds were led by senior Sara LaNoir, who netted three goals
in the game. Junior Jacqueline Simonian and freshman Gina Haber
combined to make 10 saves in the game for Long Island. Overall,
Annie Kalata leads the team with 25 points (23 goals, two assists),
while Katie Williams (17 goals, five assists) and LaNoir (17 goals,
two assists) follow with 22 and 19 points. Simonian has played the
majority of minutes in net, and has compiled a .359 save percentage
and a 15.57 goals against average.
All-Time Against The Blackbirds
Sunday's game will
be the ninth time the two sides face each other, with Quinnipiac
leading the all-time series, 8-0. In their last meeting on Friday,
Mar. 26, 2010, Quinnipiac defeated Long Island, 23-9. The Bobcats
were led by sophomore Devon Gibney (Hopkinton, Mass.), who compiled
a game-high six goals and four draw controls. Junior Christine
Sinnigen (Sudbury, Mass.) added four points on three goals and one
assist. Junior Lexi DeStefano (Brookfield, Conn.) and sophomore
Noelle Martello (Westbury, N.Y.) combined for 11 saves in net for
the Bobcats.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac
defeated Wagner with a commanding 16-6 win on Friday, Apr. 15.
Senior Christine Sinnigen (Sudbury, Mass.) led all scorers with
five points on the afternoon, scoring two goals and three assists
in the win. Senior Laura Iannotti (Rocky Point, N.Y.) netted a
game-high four goals for Quinnipiac, which improved its NEC record
to 5-1 on the year. Junior Noelle Martello (Westbury, N.Y.) and
senior Lexi DeStefano (Brookfield, Conn.) each made four saves in
net for the Bobcats.
High Five
On Friday against Wagner,
Sinnigen matched her season-high with five points in the
game. She
has accomplished this feat in three games during the season thus
far. The
five-point outing also increased her season point total to 29,
marking a new career-high in single season points.
Can't Be Tamed
Iannotti scored
four goals for the second consecutive game on Friday against
Wagner. She has now scored at least three goals in five straight
games and has registered at least one point in 13 straight games,
dating back to Apr. 25, 2010.
Eyeing The Century Mark
Junior Marissa
Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y.) added three more goals on Friday,
Apr. 15 against Wagner, to increase her team-high total to 35.
Caroleo now has 40 points on the season and 96 points overall in
her career. She
currently leads the NEC with 2.92 goals per game and is fourth
overall with 3.33 points per game.
Next Time Out
Quinnipiac returns
to action on Thursday, Apr. 21 when it travels to Emmitsburg, Md.
to face Mount St. Mary's at 4 p.m.
