Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Squad Honors
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was honored for an eighth consecutive year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) and recognized with 2013 Academic Squad honors. Quinnipiac was one of 65 schools honored nationwide after posting a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

Michaela Tinsley Named Women’s Lacrosse Captain for 2013-14 Season
Attacker Michaela Tinsley has been announced as the Bobcats' captain for the 2013-14 season by head coach Danie Caro. Phoebe Laplante and Vicki Kuhn will serve as assistant captains for next year.

Michael Sagl and Sarah Allen Named Quinnipiac’s April Athletes of the Month
Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse sophomore Michael Sagl (West Islip, N.Y.) and women’s lacrosse senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) were named Quinnipiac's April Athletes of the Month, announced on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 by the QU Department of Athletics and Recreation.

Women's Lacrosse Announces 2013 Team Awards
The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team announced its 2013 team awards in a ceremony on Friday afternoon. Awards for outstanding attack and defensive player were handed out along with honors for most improved player and the Becca Main Ultimate Bobcat Award. The Bobcats finished the 2012 season with an 7-9 record overall and a 5-4 mark in NEC play. The entire team was also recognized for capturing their third consecutive Positive Play Championship for outstanding community service.

NEC Recognizes Three Bobcats with All-Conference Honors
The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team had three players named to the All-Conference teams, announced on Thursday, April 25, 2013 by Northeast Conference officials. Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were tabbed to the NEC’s First Team, while Vicki Kuhn (East Hampstead, N.H.) was named to the NEC’s Second Team.

Women's Lacrosse Raises Over $6,500 for American Cancer Society
Head coach Danie Caro has announced the Quinnipiac University Women's Lacrosse team's final fundraising total for their "Stick It To Cancer" event held on the weekend of April 5-7, 2013. The Bobcats raised $6,680.50 through the CT Coaches vs. Cancer program. All donations directly benefited the American Cancer Society.

Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes Hoosick Falls Lacrosse for Positive Play Program
Several members of the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team met with the Hoosick Falls (NY) Varsity Lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon as part of the Athletic Department's Positive Play initiative. The Bobcats spoke about life as collegiate student-athletes, as well as advising the high school athletes about the importance of teamwork, communication, and accountability on the playing field.

Sarah Allen Named NEC Player of the Week
Senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, announced on Monday April 22, 2013. The Glastonbury, Conn. native was instrumental for the Bobcats this past weekend, leading the team with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists in two games.

Women’s Lacrosse Finishes Regular Season with Victory over Saint Francis University, 20-8; Toomey Nets Her 100th Career Goal in Win
Senior Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, NY) collected the 100th goal of her career on Sunday afternoon as the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team defeated the Saint Francis University Red Flash, 20-8, on Senior Day. Despite the win, the Bobcats playoff chances were dashed as Bryant earned the No. 3 seed with a win over Mount St. Mary’s who landed the No. 4 and final playoff spot. The Bobcats finish the 2013 season at 7-9 with a 5-4 mark in NEC action. The loss for the Red Flash drops them to 4-13 overall and 1-8 against NEC opponents.

Bobcats Keep Playoffs Hope Alive with 16-15 Win Over Robert Morris
Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) dished out a game-high six assists and Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) had five goals as the Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 16-15 win over Robert Morris Friday afternoon at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field. The Bobcats improve to 4-4 on the season but still need a win on Sunday and help around the league for a chance in the NEC Tournament.

The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team (5-9, 3-4 NEC) returns to NEC action this weekend. Sunday, April 21, will mark senior day for five of the Bobcats as they take on Red Flash of Saint Francis University (4-10, 1-6 NEC) for an NEC clash. All the action begins at 12 p.m. on the Mount Carmel Campus.

Women’s Lacrosse Suffers Tough One-Goal Loss to Mount St. Mary’s, 10-9
Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) matched a game-high with five points on Sunday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking defeat, 10-9, to Mount St. Mary’s at Waldron Family Stadium. With the loss, Quinnipiac falls below .500 in conference play to 3-4 and will need two wins and some help around the league for a chance in the NEC Tournament.

Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse senior Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) netted three goals for the third straight game on Friday afternoon, but it was the Monmouth Hawks who came away with an 11-7 victory at Kessler Field to remain unbeaten in Northeast Conference play. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-3 in NEC action.

The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team (5-7, 3-2 NEC) returns to NEC action this weekend on Friday, April 12th and Sunday, April 14th. On Friday, the Bobcats take on the Monmouth University Hawks (7-6, 5-0 NEC), with opening draw scheduled for 3 p.m. on Kessler Field. On Sunday, the Bobcats head to Emmitsburg, Md. to take on the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary’s (4-9, 3-2 NEC) for an NEC clash beginning at 12 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium on the MSM Campus

Women's Lacrosse Visits Local New Haven School
Several members of the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team visited Conte Hills West Magnet School in New Haven this past Tuesday, April 9, to teach fourth graders about the sport of lacrosse. The students are studying local Native American tribes and have learned that the sport of lacrosse was originally played by many tribes throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region.

The Bobcats welcome the Wagner Seahawks (5-7, 1-3 NEC) to Mount Carmel Campus for an NEC clash at 1 p.m. The women's lacrosse team has designated this weekend as their 'Stick It To Cancer Weekend', where donations will be accepted to help raise awareness and the fight against cancer.

Sarah Allen Sets Program Record for Career Points; Women's Lacrosse Defeats Wagner, 13-7
Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) added another piece of hardware to her collection on Sunday afternoon, while helping the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team to its second straight NEC win with a 13-7 decision over Wagner College at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field. Allen tallied four points on a goal and three assists to become the program's all-time leader in career points.

Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished with four goals and five assists for a career high of nine points on Friday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team climbed back to the .500 mark in conference play with a 20-11 victory over LIU Brooklyn at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field.

Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse: Together, We Can Stick It to Cancer
Each and every member of the Quinnipiac University Women’s Lacrosse team has been affected by cancer in some way. On Friday, April 5 at 3 p.m. against Long Island University and on Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. against Wagner University, the women’s lacrosse team will be fighting back against cancer. The Bobcats have organized a “Stick it to Cancer Weekend” and each player will be dedicating their play this weekend to a special person that has been affected by cancer.

Quinnipiac Women’s Lacrosse Drops 10-9 Decision to Central Connecticut State
Sophomore Kyra Ochwat (Farmingdale, N.Y.) carried the Bobcats offense, matching her career high with six points off three goals and three assists but it wasn’t enough as the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team fell to the Central Connecticut Blue Devils, 10-9, on Saturday from Arute Field. With the loss Quinnipiac drops to 3-7 overall and 1-2 against NEC opponents. The intrastate rival picked up their fifth straight victory and remain undefeated in conference play as they stand at 6-5 overall and 4-0 in the NEC.

Blois’ Late Game Heroics Send Women’s Lacrosse Past Bryant, 16-15
Freshman Maria Blois (Cheshire, Conn.) netted the game-winning goal with just 10 seconds remaining on Thursday night, as the Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team outlasted Bryant University, 16-15, at Bulldog Stadium in Smithfield, R.I. The Bobcats, now 1-1 in NEC play, received hat tricks from three different players, including a season high seven points from senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.)

The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team (2-6, 0-1 NEC) will continue NEC action as they take on the Bryant Bulldogs (5-3, 2-0 NEC) on Thursday night in Smithfield, R.I. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. under the lights at Bulldog Stadium. Then on Saturday, the Bobcats will meet the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut (3-5, 2-0) in New Britain, Conn. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Arute Field in New Britain, Conn.

Women's Lacrosse Drops NEC Home-Opener To Sacred Heart, 10-8
Everything was clicking for the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team through the first 25 minutes but the Pioneers came storming back from a 5-1 deficit to eventually come away with a 10-8 victory from the QU Lacrosse Turf Complex on Friday afternoon. The Bobcats were paced by senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) who pumped in three goals for her second career hat trick and first since March 21, 2010. The Bobcats drop their Northeast Conference opener for the first time since 2008 as they fall to 2-6 (0-1 NEC) while Sacred Heart picks up their first victory of the season and improve to 1-5 (1-0 NEC).

The Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team visited Helen Street School in Hamden on Thursday, March 14, to help the third graders of Laura Iannotti's class celebrate the end of CMT testing. Iannotti, a Quinnipiac alum and four-time member of the women’s lacrosse squad, invited the Bobcats to participate in an afternoon of ice cream sundaes and puzzles.

With the loss, Quinnipiac falls to 2-4 overall while the hosting Bears picked up their fifth win in six tries.

Maria Blois Nets Winner in Final Seconds; Women’s Lacrosse Storms Back to Tip Vermont, 12-11
The Quinnipiac University women’s lacrosse team mounted a furious comeback on Saturday afternoon, as the Bobcats erased a five-goal deficit, including the game-winner with just 2.5 seconds left, to defeat the University of Vermont, 12-11, at Virtue Field. Freshman Maria Blois (Cheshire, Conn.) scored in the waning seconds to lift Quinnipiac to a second straight win in thrilling fashion.

Toomey Nets Game-Winner In Overtime To Give Women's Lacrosse 13-12 Win At Iona
Quinnipiac senior Lianne Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the women's lacrosse team defeated Iona, 13-12, for its first win of the 2013 season. Toomey scored twice in the game to reach the 100-point mark for her career. Quinnipiac is now 1-2.

Allen Sets Program Record For Career Assists; Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Yale in Season-Opener, 19-12
Five Bobcats registered multiple-points on Wednesday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team was defeated by cross-town rival Yale, 19-12, in its home-opener at the QU Lacrosse Turf Field on Mount Carmel Campus. One of the five players with multiple points was senior Sarah Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.), who handed out two helpers to become the program's all-time leader in career assists.

The Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team kicks off their 2013 season when they play host to two Connecticut schools this week. Quinnipiac’s first test comes on Wednesday, Feb. 27 where the Bobcats will take on the Yale Bulldogs at 3 p.m. on the QU Turf Field in Hamden. Quinnipiac is coming off yet another impressive season in 2012, where the Bobcats earned a share of the regular season title with a 7-2 record in Northeast Conference play.

Women's Lacrosse Completes Winter Reading Project At Helen Street School
The Quinnipiac University Women’s Lacrosse team visited third graders at Helen Street School on Friday to complete a winter reading project. Former Bobcat Laura Iannotti ’11 teaches at Helen Street and worked with the coaching staff to coordinate the visit. “Anytime we can get to work with children, we always have fun,” said head coach Danie Caro. “It’s an amazing experience for our student-athletes to interact with young children in a classroom environment. And I think the elementary students really enjoy seeing college athletes and getting to talk to them about their sport.”
